Pictures and videos going viral

Something is burning in my heart right now and I want to share it with you all.

I’m sure you all know by now that ISIS is slaughtering innocent human beings in the name of religion. And they record all their inhuman actions and post it on powerful social media such as Facebook and YouTube.

Do you think we need to write our comments on those pictures and videos? Do you know when we write our comments and share those posts; we help ISIS fulfill its agendas?

Do you know leaving a comment on a social media post introduces the post, the media, to hundreds and thousands of people? That is how social media work.

Do you think it is our part to share those heinous pictures and videos and introduce ISIS and its work to others? I don’t think so! Some of the comments dropped off on those pictures say something like: “God is the Avenger! God loves these killers too!” And the people who share those pictures and videos write notes saying something like: “Please pray for these people.” Hmm! Those comments are biblical but let’s not be foolish! Our comments mean nothing on those posts except making those posts go viral!

Right now, around 2% of church goers are praying daily. God knows how many social media users pray daily; and I wonder if any of those pictures and videos all of a sudden motivates anyone to be a prayer warrior. They won’t. If they won’t, what is the goal of posting those pictures to call others who have no idea about prayer to pray?

If we want to make a difference, the one way to do it is neither by sharing ISIS’s videos and pictures nor dropping off our comments on those posts, but by sending money to the people and ministries who are going there and helping the family of the deceased ones. Sure, if we are one of those 2% of prayer warriors, we can pray fervently.

I think the devil is playing tricks on us. I feel like he is sitting, relaxing and saying, “Bravo! Christians are working hard for me! They are making my videos and pictures go viral in the name of a prayer request and making me and my work famous.”

My brothers and sisters, we who are in Christ are called to proclaim and declare the praises of Him who called us to the Kingdom of His Son (1 Peter 2:9). It is not our job to make the devil’s work go viral on social media, but God’s! Let’s use social media to tell others about the Gospel, the power and wisdom of God, which is the Cross of Christ! Let’s proclaim His Truth which can set everyone free. And guess what? There is no fee to use social media! All social medias are free! Let’s use them and make our God famous!

How beautiful on the mountains
are the feet of those who bring good news,
who proclaim peace,
    who bring good tidings,
    who proclaim salvation,
who say to Zion,
    “Your God reigns!” Isaiah 52:7///
