In Their Presence!

This verse amazes me the most from all the verses of the Bible:

“You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.” (Psalm 23:5a)

Hold on a second!

Why is it important for my enemies to be present when a table is prepared for me?

No, the verse doesn’t end there. It continues:

“You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.” (Psalm 23:5b)

But I don’t want my enemies to come when I get anointed. I don’t want them to see my cup overflowing.

Hmm!

Why is the presence of my enemies very important?

Well, you see, I simply see this day as a day of celebration but to God, who had planned this day all along, to Him, it is more than just a celebration day.

It is a declaration day, the day the news will be heralded across the universe that I, a mere human being, the weakest of all and the frail sheep, belong to God, that the Owner, the Shepherd of me is God Himself.

Well, in that case, who do you think has to attend this celebration?

This makes my heart jump with joy! ///
