A Small Voice

Have you ever been in a situation where you feel like you wished you were not born or something?

Somebody annoys you and you are like, “You know what, I will give this person a piece of my mind” and run to get even with them. And most of the time, while you are in the heat of the moment, you hear a small voice inside your soul, a voice that says something like, “It is okay, let it go” but you ignore it. You go as you plan and say what you want to say and then, after the fact, you regret for the rest of your life.

Let me give you one example:You stand in line to pay for your grocery. Standing there, you are checking your watch many times, wishing the cashier to get to you quick because you have no time to kill. Then all of a sudden, somebody cuts you off as if you are invisible.

Then you are like, “Excuse me! I’m standing here.”

Oblivious to what you said, the man moves up to the line. And you go to him and say, “Excuse me sir, but I’m standing right here to pay and you can’t just jump in.”

Then when the man turns to you to respond, you find out that the man is legally blind and can’t even hear. He quickly reaches out to his pocket and takes out his hearing aid and puts it in his ears and asked, “I’m so sorry, I didn’t hear what you just said. I’ve a slight hearing problem.”

What would be your response to the man?

Let’s pay close attention to that small voice because that small voice can keep us not only from regret but also from life threatening situations.

Listen what the Bible says: “but whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm.” Proverbs 1:33

And it says, “Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.” Isaiah 30:21

Wow! How true that is! ///
