A thermometer doesn’t have its own temperature. It tells you the surrounding temperature it is in.
If you stick it under your arm, it reads 98.9 degree Fahrenheit. If you take it out and stick the same thermometer in your deep freezer, it reads -20F. Why? It is a thermometer. It has no “temperature” of its own.
Well, that is not the story with a thermostat! Wow! Thermostat sets its own temperature and takes possession of its surrounding! Its surrounding won’t tell it at what temperature it needs to run!
