The Most Depressing Chapter of the Bible

1 King 11

This chapter starts with this:

“King Solomon, however, loved many foreign women besides Pharaoh’s daughter—Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Sidonians and Hittites. They were from nations about which the Lord had told the Israelites, “You must not intermarry with them, because they will surely turn your hearts after their gods.” Nevertheless, Solomon held fast to them in love.” verse 1 & 2

What’s wrong with King Solomon?????

God said to him, these foreign women “will surely turn your hearts after their gods.”

Period!

God is not suggesting or guessing here. He is foretelling what is for sure going to happen. Did Solomon hear what God had to say?

Nope!

“Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. – – -” (2 Corinthians 6:14-16a)

The above passage is not a suggestion either but the truth of God.

Why do people decide to marry with unbelievers?

They say, “But he doesn’t drink alcohol, doesn’t smoke or do drug!”

But he is dead! What do you do with a dead person?

Listen what the Bible says: “As for you, you [you and I] were dead in your [our] transgressions and sins,- – – But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.” (Ephesians 2:1, 4-5)

Now you are alive, Jesus brought you back to life. A person who doesn’t believe in Jesus Christ is still in a “dead” state.

So, what are you going to do with a dead person by marrying him/her?

Remember, marriage has no exit once you enter it unless of course you want to bring more mess into your life.

“But it is too late now! My wedding invitation cards are already sent to all guests.”

Are you kidding! Cancel the wedding now before it is too late. Forget the guests. Who are they for your life and destiny? What do they bring into your life? Absolutely nothing!

Honor God by following His word and He will honor you!

God said, “Far be it from me! Those who honor me I will honor, but those who despise me will be disdained.” (1 Samuel 2:30b)
There is no other way to despise God as ignoring His word and doing the opposite of what His word says. ///
