The Knowledge of the Holy One

It is a huge understatement to say, we are living in uncertainty times and we all are feeling it. Stress, even if we try to ignore it, it knocks our doors.

Families and marriages are hit hard, it seems. If marital fights were like fire, I don’t think we could find a city that is not blazing on fire.

As a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ and a person who is engaged in all kinds of marital issues on a daily basis, I wrestle with this question: “What is the solution for marital conflicts especially in this difficult time?”

It is only God who can show us the way where there seems to be no way because His word says,

“I will even make a roadway in the wilderness,
Rivers in the desert.” Isaiah 43:19b NASB

And it says,

“The Lord is good,
A stronghold in the day of trouble,
And He knows those who take refuge in Him.” Nahum 1:7 NASB

Amen!

But unless we come to know this God, there is no way we can find rest and peace and come up with a solution for marital issues.

Yes, “the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” Proverbs 9:10b NASB

When we know Him, know that He controls and governs everything, it will get easy for us to leave all our cares on Him and rest. Then He leads us, show us the way.

Knowing God is holding on to His promises/words as if our lives depend on them. In reality, our lives indeed depend on Him and His words.

Instead of running to file for a divorce as a solution, if we run to Him, God, who makes “a roadway in the wilderness,” will lead us “beside quiet waters” which we wouldn’t otherwise be able to see without His help.

I know, it is impossible to save all marriages from ending in a divorce but many marriages could have been saved, I believe, if a couple resolved to know this holy God who gives us understanding.

God says,

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord.
“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways
And My thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8-9 NASB

You see, whenever we try to solve our marital issues all by ourselves, using our own mental faculties, we end up choosing that which eventually and ultimately will hurt us and our children because we are dust, we’re “earthly” and our ways and thoughts cannot get higher than the ground we’re standing on.

But God’s ways, may His name be praised forever, God’s ways lead us to life that is much higher and better than our ways and thoughts. We may suffer and cry for a time but at the end, we will rejoice.

“One who goes here and there weeping, carrying his bag of seed,
Shall indeed come again with a shout of joy, bringing his sheaves with him.” Psalm 126:6 NASB

Amen! “great joy is often preceded by a season of tears, as if they are seeds we sow that will bring a crop of joy to be later reaped.” Enduring Word

Since God’s ways are higher than our ways, when we choose His ways, we may cry and we suffer but only for a season. Then we shout again with joy.

So, I appeal to you all married couples, who are struggling during this dark and difficult time, to strive to primarily know God and His words because

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,
And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” Proverbs 9:10 NASB

When we know God, we find it easy to trust Him to leave all our cares on Him. And when we do that, because God loves those who trust in Him, He will come to our rescue.

“You will keep in perfect peace
those whose minds are steadfast,
because they trust in you.” Isaiah 26:3 NIV

Amen!

So, hang in there. God will see you through. Please don’t settle for a divorce especially during this difficult time. You will be hurt, so will be your children and grandchildren.

God is faithful and trustworthy for those who make Him their refuge and strength. ///
