One of my New Year’s Resolutions

God purchased our bodies with the Blood of Jesus. He purchased our bodies to make it His own dwelling place. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)

That means even if we walk around and live like anybody else, we are temples of God. Praise God! God’s Spirit dwells in us! He lives in us!

Therefore, God has an invested interest on our bodies. If anybody wants to mess with His temple, God will mess with that person or spirit.

Listen what the Bible says: “Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person; for God’s temple is sacred, and you together are that temple.” 1 Corinthians 3:16-17

Anyone! If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person! Hooray! No one can mess with God’s temple!

Wow, can you just imagine how the devil is scared of us? Yes, he is very scared even to look at our face. When we wake up in the morning, the devil says, “Here we go again, my torturer is up!”

Our existence itself tortures him!

But do you know that we can be “the destroyers” of God’s temple? Yes, we can. Listen what the Word says: “ Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body.” 1 Corinthians 6:18

We destroy God’s temple by only one sin and that sin is called sexual sin! All other sins are done outside the body; but sexual sin is done on the body itself, on the temple of God itself.

So, if we go around and ask people to pray for us, our suffering which is the result of our sexual sin won’t stop since God Himself is the one who is destroying us because the Bible says, “If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person.”

My! My! My! Had I heard this a long time ago, I would have spared my life from lots of sufferings, pain and heartaches.

Maybe it is not too late for you. Lucky you!

So, this is how you stop your suffering: “Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.” James 5:16

No other way!

If you are in sexual sin, confess it to your brothers in Christ (if you are a man) or to your sisters in Christ (if you are a girl) so that you shall be healed.

You already confessed your sin to God billion times. But, did you get healed from your sinful sexual addiction?

I’m sure your answer is “No!”

You fasted and prayed many times to break the bond of porn and masturbation addiction, didn’t you? I know your answer for this question is “Yes!”

We all tend to follow the same pattern, don’t we? Yes, we do. That is how I happen to guess your answers.

So, it is time to try the Word of God; to put the Word into practice as it says.

Build a healthy relationship with other believers first. Then open up your life for others. Tell them your secrets. Your loneliness is destroying you from the inside out!

“If one person sins against another, God may mediate for the offender; but if anyone sins against the Lord, who will intercede for them?” 1 Samuel 2:25a

Who can pray and stop the hands of God from destroying us? No one!

My friend, we belong to God! We are not our own but His! Our body is His temple! He is the One who can sanctify us but we have to learn how to follow Him; as we open up and let the light shine on our darkest part of our life. How can we do that? By letting others know about us, by building close relationship and fellowship with other believers (of course, with same gender).

This is the Word of God which revived my heart and soul this morning:

“Throughout Samuel’s lifetime, the hand of the LORD was against the Philistines.” 1 Samuel 7:13

Wow! Hallelujah!  Oh, LORD, I want Your hand to be against my enemy as it is supposed to be!

God doesn’t want to put His hand against us but against our enemy! Throughout our life, God wants to destroy our enemy on our behalf! God doesn’t want to destroy us! He gave us a new birth and made us His own by the Blood of Jesus Christ! He doesn’t want to put His hand against us but against our enemies!

But we have to trust Him! We have to obey Him! And Holy Spirit is with us to help us. Trust and obey Him because He knows that we can’t do it by ourselves.

Let this day be the day you let the hand of God rest against your enemy, not against you!

That is one of my New Year’s resolutions! To let God destroy my enemy, not me! ///
