Guilt A Woman Carries

The creation of this world is a fascinating true story! What is even more fascinating is how God created us, humans. You will find the story in the Book of Genesis chapter 1 & 2.

“God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” Genesis 2:27NASB

Wow!

What kind of image they are carrying?

Both, man and woman carrying the image of God!

But this fascinating story didn’t last long. Adam and Eve sinned against God (Genesis 3:1-7) and they got separated from God’s life, eternal life. “Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loin coverings.” Genesis 2:7bNASB Very depressing!

What follows is even more depressing!

“They heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden. Then the Lord God called to the man, and said to him, “Where are you?” He said, “I heard the sound of You in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid myself.” And He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?” The man said, “The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me from the tree, and I ate.”” Genesis 3:3-12NASB

Well, well, well!

According to Adam, who are the guilt ones?

Of course not him but God and Eve, a woman God created for Adam.

Hmm!

What about Adam?

According to Adam, he is the victim of God’s and Eve’s evil acts! So, he is innocent!

Did God say to him,

“Oops! You’re right! How did I miss that? I will immediately correct my mistake. Where is that trouble maker, Eve?”

Are you kidding?

“Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” And the woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.””

God directly asked Eve, not because God believed what Adam said, but to find out how Eve would respond.

Just like Adam, Eve also blamed the serpent, right?

She did! But was her answer totally wrong?

Nope!

The word of God says,

“For it was Adam who was first created, and then Eve. And it was not Adam who was deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression.” 1 Timothy 2:13-14NASB

The word of God agrees with Eve. Eve was deceived. It was not like, Eve’s known exactly what she was doing but “the serpent was” craftier than “any beast of the field” and he successfully deceived her.

What about Adam? Was he deceived?

Nope!

God tells us correctly as to how Adam ate the forbidden fruit:

“Then to Adam He [God] said, “Because you have listened to the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree about which I commanded you, saying, ‘You shall not eat from it’;

Cursed is the ground because of you;
In toil you will eat of it
All the days of your life.” Genesis 3:17NASB

Adam made a conscious choice between: Listening to his wife or Listening to God!

The problem with Adam was his rejection of what God commanded him. Once he rejects the word of God, the rest is wrong in whatever way we slice the story, whether Adam listens to Eve or chooses to stretch out his hand and cuts the forbidden fruit to eat it or what have you.

Do you see it?

Adam’s problem was not listening to his wife but rejecting what God said to him.

If we reject God and His word, we are already sinners, separated from the word of God. What we did after we reject God doesn’t really matter!

If God had accepted Adam’s response as true, He would have said this in Genesis 3:17:

Then to Adam He [God] said, “Because you have listened to the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree about which I commanded you, saying, ‘You shall not eat from it’;

CURSED IS THE GROUND BECAUSE OF EVE;
In toil you will eat of it
All the days of your life.

Is that what God said to Adam?

No! Rather, God said to Adam,

“Curse is the ground because of you [Adam]”

Does that mean Eve is off-the-hook?

Nope!

Blame-shifting doesn’t work for anyone. Everyone is responsible for his/her actions and words.

Did God accept Eve’s response?

Yes because she was definitely deceived by the serpent. However, God didn’t accept to hold the serpent as the only responsible party for Eve’s share of sin.

After Eve replied to God, God didn’t turn to the serpent and asked him as He turned to Eve as asked her when Adam blamed Eve. Rather, God said to the serpent:

“Because you have done this,
You are cursed more than all cattle,
And more than every beast of the field;
On your belly you shall go,
And you shall eat dust
All the days of your life.” Genesis 3:14NKJV

And God didn’t stop there. He continued to tell the serpent [the devil] how God would make his end. The devil caused the human race to be separated from God forever through deceiving the woman; and God told the devil how He would defeat/end him forever through the woman, the very person Satan used to destroy the human race:

“And I will put enmity
Between you and the woman,
And between your seed and her Seed;
He shall bruise your head,
And you shall bruise His heel.” Genesis 3:15NKJV

Do you see that?

Who is “her Seed?”

The Messiah! Jesus Christ! The Lamb of God!

A woman carries this endless guilt, being wrongly condemned to make Adam sin by giving him the forbidden fruit.

Did Eve deceive Adam? Nope! Did she lie to him? Nope! She just gave him and he ate it! But still “human history” blames Eve.

Yes, the devil didn’t come to Adam but came to Eve and he deceived her to eat the forbidden fruit. Who died first? Eve! Then “the dead Eve” gave the forbidden fruit to Adam and Adam ate it. Adam didn’t ask any question. He blindly followed Eve regardless of what God had commanded him.

Who got blamed for the fall of human race?

Only Eve!

Who do men (most men) blame for the fall of human race?

The woman/Eve!

So God,

“- – – when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law,” Galatians 4:4NASB

The operating phrase is “born of a woman.”

Really? A woman? Not “born of a man?”

You better believe it!

The devil came through a woman and killed humans; Jesus came through a woman, the Virgin Mary, defeated the devil.

So, if you are a woman, know who you are in Christ. Believe what the truth of God says about you. The truth you know will set you free from guilt (John 8:32). Then teach this truth to both your sons and daughters so that they all will be set free in Christ. ///
