Seeking His Glory

Everything we have, we received it from God. We have nothing that we give to ourselves. We have nothing!

Job said, “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return.” Job 1:21

Our life itself belongs to Him. And God gives everything to us, humans, and to all His creations for the glory of His name.

That statement may make you cringe and make you ask, “Is God that much selfish and hungry to receive glory from His creation?”

The answer is, no, He is not! If we don’t glorify God, God still lives in glory with all the glory that belongs to Him.

We, His created beings, find the purpose of our lives which is glorifying Him and Him alone. By doing so, we find joy and peace that this world has no clue about.

When we use what we are and what we have to glorify everything else but God, chaos ushers itself into our lives through fear, anxiety, worry, regrets, guilt, you name it.

Striving to glorify God in everything we do and say is our safety.

How do we know that we glorify God in what we do and say?

Listen:

“How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word. . . I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.” Psalm 119:9, 11 ESV

Glorifying God means living according to God’s word. Not living according to God’s word is sinning against God. When we live as we feel like  it, we say to God to His face, “I am the god of my life, You are not.”

Very scary!

And whenever we say that to God, God won’t say, “Oops! Sorry! Call me whenever you need me and I will answer you. For now, I apologize for bothering you.”

Are you serious? Some people think like that about God. For them, God is what Santa Clause is for little kids.

Listen what the word of God says,

“because you have ignored all my counsel and would have none of my reproof, I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when terror strikes you, when terror strikes you like a storm and your calamity comes like a whirlwind, when distress and anguish come upon you. Then they will call upon me, but I will not answer; they will seek me diligently but will not find me. . . but whoever listens to me will dwell secure and will be at ease, without dread of disaster.” Proverbs 1:25-28, 33 ESV

So let’s strive to glorify God! Seeking God’s glory is like seeking our joy, peace and rest. ///
