Why do some men see women as a sex object?

Simple and straightforward answer to that question is: Because those men are sexually sick. They watch porn and they view all women as nothing but as objects who fulfill their sexual fantasy.

However, that cannot be the only answer. The other straightforward answer is:

Some women allow men to treat and see them as sex objects. If a woman presents herself according to her exposed body parts, how else can a man see her expect as body parts made for his sexual fantasy?

But a virtuous woman does not allow any man, including her husband, to see and treat her like a sex object. You may ask, “What is a virtuous woman?”

The Bible says,

“Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.” Proverbs 31:10 KJV

If you read the rest of Proverbs 31, from verse 10 to 31, you will find the life of a virtuous woman. The short definition of a virtuous woman is “powerful, pure, just, upright, strong, wise, brilliant, morale, industrious, and more.”

(By the way, Proverbs 31 is the advice of Queen mother, the mother of the king, gave to her reigning son. Some Bible scholars say, this advice was given by Bathsheba, the wife of King David, to her son, King Solomon. If you remember, Bathsheba was Uriah’s wife but King David stole her from him and slept with her and put Uriah to death to hide his sin (you can find the whole story in 2 Samuel). Then after He killed Uriah, forgetting that there was a God who sees everything, King David took Bathsheba who was pregnant from him at the time as his wife. But God killed the child as a consequence of David’s sin. After he repented of his sin, David made Bathsheba pregnant again and she gave birth to Solomon (mean, “peace”).

So, as a mother, I can just see how concerned Bathsheba should have been about her son’s future life, especially as to who, from all the beautiful women in Israel, he would pick as a wife. So, she gave him a list of qualities King Solomon should look for a woman before he decides to marry her.)

Her first quality is this: A Virtuous woman is not found everywhere. She is rare! Her rarity itself is her identifying mark!

She is mainly rare because she is found in God.

“House and riches are the inheritance of fathers: and a prudent wife is from the Lord.” Proverbs 19:14 KJV

A virtuous woman is a hard worker!

With honesty and truthfulness, she works hard.

“She looks for wool and flax
And works with her hands in delight.
She is like merchant ships;
She brings her food from afar.

She rises also while it is still night
And gives food to her household
And portions to her maidens.
She considers a field and buys it;
From her earnings she plants a vineyard.
She girds herself with strength
And makes her arms strong.” Proverbs 31:13-17

She doesn’t sit at the corner of a house or a street and cry for her luck. She doesn’t believe in luck but in the word of God. So, she is industrious in every season of life.

A virtuous woman is beautiful!

Since her beauty comes from the inside, no man dares to see and treat her as a sex object. Her radiant beauty demands respect. And her hidden beauty comes from the fear of the LORD.

“[wives] Your adornment must not be merely external—braiding the hair, and wearing gold jewelry, or putting on dresses; but let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God.” 1 Peter 3:3-4 NASB

If her husband chooses another woman over her, she won’t be in his way. She lets him be with the other woman but never lets him sleep with her as well as with the other woman. The fear of the LORD that creates in her “the hidden person” doesn’t allow her to take part in sin (adultery).

But if her husband chooses to confess his sin and return to her, she goes to those who can help them both to restore their marriage. She doesn’t play with “forgive me of my sin, here I cry,” kind of game with her husband because no foolishness is found in her tent as she uses her brain.

A virtuous woman uses her mind

She puts her mind to use. She doesn’t lead her life by what she feels but by what is true.

“She considers a field and buys it;
From her earnings she plants a vineyard.
She girds herself with strength
And makes her arms strong.
She senses that her gain is good;” Proverbs 31:16-18a

She is a total opposite of Eve who decided to disobey God by what she was feeling at the moment about the forbidden fruit (Genesis 3:6). What excites only her emotion is a red flag for her.

A virtuous woman receives from God

She feeds her soul and spirit in prayer and reading/studying the word of God. She digs deep into the word of God so gives her understanding and revelation of His word. She doesn’t live in somebody else preaching and teaching.

A virtuous woman everything she is and she has comes from God

All her praiseworthy characters, habits, behaviors and manners find their source in God for she leads her life in the fear of God.

“Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain,
But a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.” Proverbs 31:30 NASB

Oh, how beautiful even to study about the life of the Proverbs 31 woman! May God help us all women to be nothing but virtuous women! ///
