Change the Driver

Wearing new clothes, having a new haircut, changing a church or job, meeting new people, moving to a new city whatnot won’t really make us better Christians.

Until we decide to change our thinking patterns to make them according to the word of God, we continue to act, do, feel and experience the same thing again and again.

Yes, change has to start first in the mind because thoughts always precede actions. Action is a product of thought.

The word of God says, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:2 NIV

Did you see it?

“be transformed” – means, turn to “butterfly to caterpillar” – from the old man to the new man, by “the renewing of your mind.” The mind has to be the target place to bring change in our behaviors and actions.

That is why the Bible says,

Above all else, guard your heart,
for everything you do flows from it.” Proverbs 4:23 NIV

I love to read this particular verse by New Century Version. It translates it this way:

Be careful what you think,
because your thoughts run your life.” Proverbs 4:23 NCV

Beautiful, isn’t it?

Yes, our thoughts, not our actions or behaviors, run our lives. So, watch out what you think because your thoughts are on the driver seat of your life.

Change the driver and the passengers will follow suit. ///
