Not of this World

Have you heard this saying: “You are what you eat?”

It is so true, isn’t it?

It is not just true for our physical life but for the spiritual one too.

Think about it!

If we feed on the entertainment products of this world, we become slaves to this world.

While we’re staring at our phones 24/7, hoping that we see or hear something that will entertain us, letting our eyes feed on the things of this world, how can we lead a life that glorifies God?

We can’t! IT IS IMPOSSIBLE!

Jesus said,

“If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.” John 15:18-19

Look at how Jesus is telling us our identity here. We are not of this world. We belong to a different world. If this world loves us, it means we’re following its pattern of life.
If we are in Christ, we are “chosen” by Him to be His, to be in Him. When we align our lives with this truth, guess who we become?
Read this:-

“But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and manifests through us the sweet aroma of the knowledge of Him in every place. For we are a fragrance of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing; to the one an aroma from death to death, to the other an aroma from life to life. And who is adequate for these things? For we are not like many, peddling the word of God, but as from sincerity, but as from God, we speak in Christ in the sight of God.” 2 Corinthians 2:14-17 NASB

Just look at our identity:- We become “a fragrance of Christ to God.”

Amen!

We smell like “life” to those who are being saved.
We smell like “death” to those who are perishing.

But this “sweet aroma” cannot come out of us unless we separate ourselves from this world.

“Don’t team up with those who are unbelievers. How can righteousness be a partner with wickedness? How can light live with darkness? What harmony can there be between Christ and the devil? How can a believer be a partner with an unbeliever? And what union can there be between God’s temple and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God said:

“I will live in them
and walk among them.
I will be their God,
and they will be my people.
Therefore, come out from among unbelievers,
and separate yourselves from them, says the Lord.
Don’t touch their filthy things,
and I will welcome you.
And I will be your Father,
and you will be my sons and daughters,
says the Lord Almighty.”” 2 Corinthians 6:14-18 NLT ///
