I love seeing my husband off to work. I enjoy going out with me, blessing him and his day as I wave to him goodbye.
But this morning, I was not feeling okay. So, I didn’t follow him to outside. Instead, I stayed inside and gave him a goodbye kiss. He kissed me back and began walking to the outside door. Then he turned to me and said, “Always remember this my Love; Jesus Christ is LORD. He is always on His throne! May He give you a blessed day!”
I immediately agreed with him and shouted back to him, “Amen! Thank you my Love! May God bless your day too!”
Those words of my husband stayed with me. I held them tight because they are true. Jesus Christ is LORD and He is always on His throne.
And you know what I thought in that very moment?
Well, I said to myself, “What if my husband was not a believer? What if I was married to an unbelieving man?”
Oh, my friends, the word of God is true. It says, “Do not be yoked together with unbelievers.” (2 Corinthians 6:14a)
Why?
The word of God continues giving us detail reasons why we cannot be “yoked” with unbelievers:
“For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God.” (2 Corinthians 6:14b-16b)
We believers are the righteousness of God, unbelievers are not.
We have fellowship with the light, unbelievers don’t.
We belong to Christ, unbelievers don’t.
We are the temple of the living God, unbelievers are not.
And, don’t you think that it is a fearful thing for anyone to ignore this truth of God and marry an unbeliever? I think it is.
My friend, if you are single, reading this post, this message might be for you. Please, never and ever entertain the idea of dating/marrying a person who doesn’t believe in Jesus Christ. “I will believe in Jesus Christ tomorrow,” won’t cut it. If he/she doesn’t believe in Jesus Christ, you have no business with him/her.
If you decide to marry an unbelieving person, your wedding gown and your wedding ceremony may remind you of heaven but your marriage may remind you of anything but heaven.
So, save your life! ///
