LWe are not only spiritual beings but physical too. What we do to our physical body will eventually affect our spiritual life.
For instant, what we think affects what we do, in a negative or positive way.
That is why the Bible says,
“Be careful what you think, because your thoughts run your life.” Proverbs 4:23 NCV
Did you see that?
So before we try to correct our actions, we need to focus on our thought lives.
The one thing we need to fight against is for our mind to be a factory of negative thoughts.
“I am ugly! I don’t measure up! I hate life! I hate myself! I don’t want to pray because God does what pleases Him He whether I pray or not! What is the point of reading the Bible?”
These are dangerous thoughts! And for us Christians, it is not like we want to think positively but biblically. Whatever God’s word says is true about us.
But guess what?
Whenever we lead a constantly stressful lifestyle, eat too much sugar, get too little sleep and get no physical exercise, our brain can only produce negative thoughts.
So while we try to pray, read/study/meditate on the word of God, we have to make sure that we need to take a good care of our body.
After all, our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit:
“Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own?” 1 Corinthians 6:19 NASB ///
