It is good to have a reason to get married, don’t you think so?
At least for us, Christians, there should be a definite reason to get married.
Some people want to get married to have “a holy sex,” you know, the one they have every day without having any guilt or shame? Yeah, to get that one.
That means, they treat their marriage certificate as a “sex license.” That is not only sad but dangerous because that “license” won’t guarantee them anything except misery, frustration and disappointments for marriage certificate is not a sex license.
Some people want to get married because they are addicted to so many things such as porn. That means, they see marriage certificate or the people they marry as “a medicine” for their moral flaws. But again, since marriage is not a medicine for anything, especially for porn addiction, they live in hopelessness.
Some people still get married because “that is the one thing people do in this life,” they think.
But the truth of the matter is, at least according to the Bible, the one thing all people do in this life is live! I mean, how complicated is that to understand? To live for the purpose we are created for, which may not necessarily include marriage. It is good to note this.
The other most common reason people want to get married is, to be “a bride.”
Note: I didn’t say, “to be a groom” because most men are not really that much interested to be a groom. Once they have their woman, they care less about the rest of the world, let alone worry about being the center of attention. Are you crazy! If there was an option to skip a wedding, 98% of men would take that option in a heartbeat.
It is we, women, who desire to be the center of everybody’s attention, especially because of our beauty and what a wonderful opportunity to fulfill that desire at our wedding!
No one looks at the groom at the wedding because there is nothing exciting or interesting about him.
Everybody is staring at the bride! So, we love wedding and we desire to be that “bride.”
Nothing wrong with that desire unless we make that desire the only thing we desire.
A bride, right after the vow, will become a wife. Then she will become a mother.
If you think these two calls, a wife and a mother, are one of those easy calls of God, you will miss out in life as a woman.
So, if you are a gal who is in the dating season, make sure you prepare yourself “to be very married,” [a phrase from Audrey Hepburn] because, Hun, once you become a wife and a mother, there is no “I.” There is no, “I want to go out and have fun with my friends whenever I want to” kind of life.
Do you hear me?
“I, me and mine” have to be out of the game once you marry so you die so others, your husband and kids, will live. When that happens, a new you will come forth and you enjoy every second of your life with “the new you.”
Otherwise, if you let “I” live with your calls as a wife and a mother, “I” will automatically, by default, become the king and ruler of the others (husband and kids).
Why?
“Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.” (John 12:24)
Try to reflect on what I am trying to tell you here. May God give you understanding.
How can you put “I” to death? Well, the first thing that you need to know is this: “I” needs to be nailed down on the cross on a daily basis. And the best way to do that is by striving to live according to the will and word of God through the strength you receive from the grace and spirit of God. ///
