Who among us sought God and found Him?
Who from his own initiative decided to look for God and found Him?
“As it is written:
“There is no one righteous, not even one;
there is no one who understands;
there is no one who seeks God.
All have turned away,
they have together become worthless;
there is no one who does good,
not even one.”” Romans 3:10-12
Paul writes:
“- – – we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.” Ephesians 2:3
But God – – – – – – – – Hallelujah! But God!
Don’t you love “but God” phrase? I do!
“But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:4-10
Oh, how I love this passage of Scripture!
By His grace, He saved us through faith, and even our “faith” in Him itself is not ours but His, it is His doing, “it is the gift of God.”
There is no, “Then I heard the Gospel and then I decided to believe.”
There is no “I” in our salvation “so that no one may boast.”
It is all His doings, from the beginning to the end! Praise God! He is “the author [beginner] and finisher of our faith” (Hebrews 12:2)
This truth gives me unfathomable rest, peace and joy in Christ Jesus. I am glad that God didn’t put me in charge of my salvation but His Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the One who began this good work called “salvation” in me and He is the only One who brings it to completion (Philippians 1:6).
Wow! This a river of joy I keep on going into whenever life throws me curve balls. ///
