Truth is not subjective but objective. Truth stands by itself. It doesn’t need anybody’s help and approval. It lives on for truth cannot be denied of its existence. But is that the way we view truth?
Sometimes we sit in a group to study the Bible. We read a passage or two and we start sharing our opinions on the passage we read. We say, “So, what do you think of this passage?” And everybody shares their opinions. Then the Bible study ends. What did we get out of the Bible study? Each other’s opinion! Don’t get me wrong. Our opinions can be good ones. But is that our goal when we sit to study the Bible?
No! It is not! Our goal is to find the Truth!
Listen how we are to search for the truth:
“1My son, if you will receive my words
And treasure my commandments within you,
2 Make your ear attentive to wisdom,
Incline your heart to understanding;
3 For if you cry for discernment,
Lift your voice for understanding;
4 IF YOU SEEK HER AS SILVER
AND SEARCH FOR HER AS FOR HIDDEN TREASURES;
5 Then you will discern the fear of the Lord
And discover the knowledge of God.
6 For the Lord gives wisdom;
From His mouth come knowledge and understanding.” Proverbs 2:1-6NASB (capitalization added for emphasis)
Notice verse 4. Truth is something we search and find.
The word of God says,
“The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in the field, which a man found and hid again; and from joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.” Matthew 13:44NASB
Did you see that? Each truth of God is a treasure for us to look and find. Since we are fallen creatures, we need to search well to find them (of course we cannot do this alone but with the help of the Holy Spirit). Adam in his innocence hadn’t needed explanation from God as to what God was saying or up to. Adam knew! But us, we don’t know! Until we know this truth about us, that we are blind, mute and deaf without the truth of God, we don’t run to the word of God which gives us knowledge and wisdom, eyes that can see, ears that can hear clearly and a mind that is able to think and reason. The word of God is where all the treasures of knowledge and wisdom are hidden (Colossians 2:2-3). Our job is looking for those treasures of God and be rich in them. If God is the Owner of those treasures, can we have a say or opinion on those treasures’ shape, size and color? Are you kidding? No! Our job is to look and find them. Period!
That is why truth cannot be subjective but objective. And without the truth of God, we cannot have understanding and discernment we need to walk in this dark world. Yes, after the fall of man, this world has become dark. Do you know that?
Jesus said,
“I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.” John 8:12NASB
That is why David sang this way:
“Your word is a lamp to my feet
And a light to my path.” Psalm 119:105NASB
Then if a woman separates herself from Christ, from the word of God, she literally walks in darkness. No common sense! No nothing! What she thought would get her to the Promised Land will land her in misery as the word of God says,
“There is a way that seems right to [a woman] a man, but its end is the way to death.” Proverbs 14:12ESV
And all those men who look at a woman as an object would love to find a woman who is trying to find her way in the dark because they can easily convince her to do whatever they want her to do and use her in whatever way they want to.
The word of God makes a woman wiser than all her enemies including her own sin-stricken flesh, the devil and this dark world so that she can build her life [house]:
“The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down.” Proverbs 14:1NIV ///
