When I share the truth of God with someone, I don’t share it as if I was telling them about one of my favorite stories I have read in my life.
John writes in his first epistle:
“What was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and touched with our hands, concerning the Word of Life— and the life was revealed, and we have seen and testify and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was revealed to us— what we have seen and heard we proclaim to you also, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ. These things we write, so that our joy may be made complete.” 1 John 1-4 NASB
Do you see the origin of Christianity?
Christianity is not a concept or an idea that someone came up with and shared it with others. Christianity is a real story, with eye-witnesses.
There is no mysticism with this story. There is no, “I thought I saw” or “I saw a vision of” or “I dreamt this amazing dream and it must be from the Creator of this word” kind of story. Yes, we read visions and dreams in the Bible. We also learn that the first Five Books of the Bible, which are known as the books of Law, known as the Pentateuch (or, Torah in Jew), are known to be written by Moses, while he was inspired by the Spirit of God. Not only those five books but we read from the Bible that the rest of the Books of the Bible are also written by more than 43 or 44 people who were inspired by the Spirit of God. These writers lived in different eras, places and generations:
“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17 ESV
Reading through all the books of the Bible, we all can see clearly that all those books have one central message, the Word of Life, Jesus Christ, and that is why Scripture calls all the Books of the Bible as “breathed out by God.”
Just by this reason only, Christianity, the name given in the first century to the people who were doing life as Jesus Christ, has no equal or similarity (Acts 11:26). According to the Bible, Christians didn’t come up with the name “Christian.” After Jesus ascended to heaven, His Disciples continued living as they have learned from their Lord, Jesus Christ. So, people who were looking at them say, “Christians, Christ-followers.” Then Christianity has lived on since then to this day. And the first followers/Disciples of Jesus Christ, except one of them, John, were put to death for the truth they “have heard, – – – seen – – -, – – – looked at and touched with” their hands concerning “the Word of Life! The Incarnate Word! Jesus Christ!” Their crime was only one: Sharing what they “know” to be true!
Those eye-witnesses, not one eye-witness but many, wrote what they had seen, heard, looked at and touched and their message arrived to us, to you and me, so that just like them we too will have fellowship “with the Father, and with His Son, Jesus Christ.” And John continued writing saying, “These things we write (keep on sharing), so that our joy may be made complete.” 1 John 5:1-4
Wow! Did you read that?
Sharing this truth of God, the Message of God, about Jesus Christ, multiplies the joy of the person who is sharing it!
If we profess to know Jesus Christ but don’t share Him with others, we may only know about Him. We probably don’t know Him personally. We may not have an intimate fellowship with Him. If we don’t, we cannot share Him with anyone because for what reason?
John said, sharing about Jesus Christ to us, his readers, make his joy complete. I mean, who won’t work hard for his/her joy?
Not me! And I am sure, not you either!
We want joy! We desire joy!
Knowing Jesus Christ gives us joy that this world doesn’t have any clue about and this joy, listen please, gets multiplied as we continue sharing this Word of Life with others. We found an eternal life in Christ and it is so much joy to see others find the same thing we find.
So, that is my number one goal or reason to come to you every week or every time I get a chance to write or produce a video. Jesus Christ is my message to you whether I talk about marriage, parenting, what have you. And I am not sharing with you as if I shared with you about my number one favorite dish.
The Bible says,
“God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son” Hebrews 1:1-2a NASB
Jesus Christ is the Message of God to all humanity because having and knowing Christ as our Lord and Savior will determine our eternal destiny, whether in heaven or hell. Soul doesn’t die because it is created by God from God’s breath. It continues living on even after death. The question is where do we live our eternity? In heaven, in the eternal and abundant love of God, means with God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit, or in hell, with God’s eternal wrath.
“Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.” John 3:36 ESV
May God open our spiritual eyes so we can see God’s Truth! ///
