Abigail stole King David’s heart and he never recovered from it all until he proposed to her and made her his. Do you know when she stole his heart?
Well, it was when Abigail protected David from sinning against God!
Listen how King David praised Abigail after she stood on his way and stopped him from sinning against his own God:
“David said to Abigail, “Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel, who has sent you today to meet me. May you be blessed for your good judgment and for keeping me from bloodshed this day and from avenging myself with my own hands. Otherwise, as surely as the LORD, the God of Israel, lives, who has kept me from harming you, if you had not come quickly to meet me, not one male belonging to Nabal would have been left alive by daybreak.”” (1 Samuel 25:32-34)
King David was not an emotional person who quickly reacted for everything. He was a loving person but not emotionally driven man. He was the kind of man who kept his God’s Word in his heart. David was not “a nominal” follower and worshiper of God. He was the most wise and spiritual man ever. His valor and demeanor marked him among other men as a WARRIOR who knew no FEAR!
But, yeah, that “but” again. But as a man, David had moments too. He was very angry with Nabal and went out to get even with him. He forgot what he was taught about the Will of God. He was so driven by his flesh that he forgot the very thing he very much cared about. He came with a full force to take the life of every man in Nabal’s household.
But, BEHOLD, a woman stood on his way. She stopped the famous WARRIOR! She didn’t stop him showing him her breast or thigh or something like that. Oh, no. If she had chosen to do that, he would have taken her head off, no compromise on that. No, she didn’t do that. She STOPPED him with a spirit of humility and PURITY!!!
Wow, her attitude was the kind of attitude no man can go against.
She feared him; she honored him; she was submissive to his status as a leader of all the men around him; she acknowledged his “manhood”; she reminded him of who he was in God and who he was fighting for; she pushed his heart to what he knew to be true about God; she indirectly quoted his God’s Word to him, the Word that says “vengeance is Mine” (Roman 12:19); she reminded him of his own God who protected him all along, a God who saved him from all his enemies and she told him what God had in store for him in the future, agreeing with what God had told him when he was anointed to be a king. She went ahead of him and showed him his future. And at last she convinced him not to trade off his eternal honor for a momentary sinful pleasure. She stood between him and his fleshly desire which would have led him to his grave. (Read 1 Samuel 25) And she saved him.
And topping all those qualities off with her God given beauty, Beloved; when David took a look at her, “there was no spirit” left in that WARRIOR. She stole his heart forever. He desired her, not for a sexual sin, not for a one night stand but he desired her so that she would be one with him till death do them part. He wanted her to pair with him as he waged God’s war against the enemy of God and God’s Kingdom.
“Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.
Honor her for all that her hands have done,
and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.” (Proverbs 31:30-31)
Yes, love your man to the point of saving him from his fleshly desires. That love language is crystal clear in man’s world. He can read, hear and understand it very well. Protect your man from sinning against his own God. Decide to win his heart with a holy and pure love as you influence him to seek the Will of God!!! Be that rare “jewel” for him so that he will never recover from your love.
“A wife of noble character who can find?
She is worth far more than rubies.”(Proverbs 31:10)
You see, this kind of woman can’t be many. She can’t be found everywhere. She is rare.
Some women these days reject a man who doesn’t sleep with them. When he was not even thinking about sex, they go and unbuckle his belt and lead him to sin against his God, the God he loves to death.
Do you want to be like that to the man you adore? Don’t you want to be a rare one? I think you do. That is why you are reading this. Well, how to be that rare one? Just choose to be and you will be the one, carved out, FROM Your man, to him, to save him from himself! ///
