How can saying, “I am a Christian,” be taken as an enough testimony?
How can, “God broke my chains of addictions to all sorts of things many years ago,” alone be a testimony or evidence of Christianity?
Yes, God saves by His grace through faith through Christ’s work on the cross and a person may testify that he/she is saved by the grace of God but that same grace that saves them does not change their lives? How can what happened to them 7 or 17 years ago be presented as evidence for their Christianity?
“We are born-again Christians,” a couple claimed but their way of life testifies otherwise as the Bible says,
“They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good.” Titus 1:16 NIV
They fight like pagans-people who have no God. They invite porn into their bedroom. Their number one priority in life is to be “happy” no matter what. They cut corners when they need to, they cheat on their taxes and do everything and anything if they think they can get more money. Raising their children in the way of God has never crossed their minds. They get entertained by everything and anything this dark world entertainment industries provide. No filter for their eyes and ears.
Then as a Christian, you see this couple, you think long and hard; then prayerfully with fear and respect you pose a question for them: So, you said, you’re Christians. Would you give me one example that shows your faith in Christ expressed in action in your lives?
“For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.” James 2:26 NKJV
They quickly respond, “Hmm! Well, we go to church every Sunday. We give tithes and offerings! We donate monthly to ministries such as to Focus on the Family and the Voice of the Martyrs.”
Then you open your mouth to tell them about Christianity but you realize that they are nowhere near to be interested to hear the truth because they are “toooo healthy” in their own eyes.
Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.” Mark 2:17NIV
If a person says, he is healthy, do you say to him, “No, you are not healthy. You need a physician?”
But if there is anyone out there who has ears to hear, let him hear: Christian faith expresses itself in holiness, purity and good works. These may not be complete or perfect but their existence in a Christian life is evident. If the Christian faith is not expressed in these, it is DEAD and dead faith saves nobody! ///
