Praise God for another beautiful day, right?

I mean, think about it! If I am writing this and you are reading this, we can say that we are alive today, praise God!

Some of us may think that we are alive today because we stayed away from those high calorie and fatty foods and we stuck with vegetables and fruits. Some of us may think that we are still alive because we drive safe, we lock our doors tight, we live in “a war-free” zone area, and still some of us think that we are still alive because our laboratory test has been constantly perfect for the last 10 or 20 years.

I mean, don’t get me wrong. It is always good to eat health, drive safe and all that but the question we need to ask this: Can those good habits/things increase or determine the length of our lives?

We may say yes and argue giving lots of examples but the question that begs an answer is this: Are all those examples true to everybody?

“A woman who always eats vegetables and fruits now 84 looks like a 64-year old woman and she exercises like a 20-year old woman.” Okay, so can we all eat vegetables and fruits like her so that the outcome will be the same?

This is what I am trying to say: This life has an Author.

No one comes to this earth by his/her will, right? And as the beginning of life is not determined by the individual, the end of life will be the same.

The word of God puts it this way:

“The God who made the world and all things in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, – – – He Himself gives to all people life and breath and all things; and He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their habitation, that they would seek God, if perhaps they might grope [search] for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; for in Him we live and move and exist” Acts 17:24-28a NASB

Ah! He made us, gave us “life and breath and all things,” and He set appointed times for each one of us (as to when we are going to be born and die) and He even set boundaries as to where we live.

The question is why?

Why did God bring us to this life?

For one purpose: We may seek and find Him.

When we find Him, the only response we can give to the One we find is only worship.

The word of God says,

“Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.” Revelation 4:11 KJV

Hmmmmmmm!

So, I am created for the pleasure of God! And His pleasure is in me looking, searching and finding Him the One who created me. When I find Him, I desert and abandon everything knowing that He is the most beautiful and glorious God and that I come to know that He alone is the source of my joy and pleasure.

Do you see that?

So, the purpose of my “dash” life is this!

Jonathan Edwards: 1703 – 1758

What do those numbers tell us? Edwards’ birth date and death date. So, the dash is the length of time Edwards lived on this earth.

That “dash -” is the time given to all of us and the purpose of that dash is for us to seek, search and find our Creator. (By the way, notice, there is no big or small dash, just one dash to all of us, not difference.)

Are you using “your dash” for the purpose seeking and finding God?

Searching and knowing God is a lifetime task for God is too big to be fully known. There is no one who can claim and say, “I fully know God!”

But the question is not how much of God you come to know but are you daily in that journey of seeking and finding your Creator.

Some people think, “I will know and find God after death.”

Well, my friends, we have to remind ourselves that life after death is a continuation of life before death. A person who doesn’t seek God in this side of heaven won’t find Him in heaven.

There is no baptism in heaven. There is no “an introduction” program in heaven. God won’t come to us and say, “By the way, I know you were too busy with school, work and raising kids and all that and you didn’t get a chance to know me while you were on earth but guess what? Here is I Am! I AM the AMEN.”

No my friedn! There is no such kind of thing!

Listen what the word of God says,

“Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is.” 1 John 3:2 NASB

You see, in this side of heaven, we seek, search and see Him in faith and in that side of heaven, our faith turns into sight and we shall see Him just as He is.

Do you see how eternity is a continuation of our earthly life?

Don’t be deceived! The God you don’t see in faith now you won’t be able to see “just as He is” in heaven.

Jesus Christ told these two parables to His Disciples:

“The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in the field, which a man found and hid again; and from joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking fine pearls, and upon finding one pearl of great value, he went and sold all that he had and bought it.” Matthew 13:45-46 NASB

NOTICE: A “treasure hidden” – and those who searched for the treasure found it!

God promised us saying,

“You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:13 NASB

Everything in this world competes to get our attention, saying, “Look! I have a beautiful treasure for you! Just follow this and that and you will find it,” and they distract us from the Treasure we are created to search and find.

But by His grace and mercy, God comes to us and finds us in Christ but do we like the man or the merchant in the above parables continue in seeking and searching our Creator who revealed Himself to us in Christ Jesus?
