We usually tend to separate our sexuality from our core nature because we think and believe that our sexuality is a completely separate entity that we carry with ourselves.
But the truth is, our sexuality is not a separate entity but the integral part of who we really are. We all are sexual beings and our sexuality is the center of our humanity, a pillar on which every part of who we are is woven into and built on.
Let me give you one simple example:
Have you ever seen a sexually promiscuous man who is a man of his word, joyful, peaceful, a good and trustworthy brother in Christ and a faithful and devoted husband and father?
Let me guess?
You haven’t!
Why?
It can never happen! It is impossible for any man to lead that kind double standard life.
In the same way, a woman who leads a sexually immoral lifestyle cannot be a loving, caring, honest, peaceful, joyful, genuine and sincere wife to her husband/mother to her kids.
The Bible puts it this way:
“For a prostitute can be had for a loaf of bread,
but another man’s wife preys on your very life.
Can a man scoop fire into his lap
without his clothes being burned?
Can a man walk on hot coals
without his feet being scorched?
So is he who sleeps with another man’s wife;
no one who touches her will go unpunished.” (Proverbs 6:27-29)
Wow! Did you see that?
The woman you look at online is not after your pair of eyes but she “preys on your VERY LIFE!”
A woman may go for sex to another man that she is not married to, but the price she pays for that sex is her very life. (Read the above passage carefully! “Life” means – living for the glory of God and for the good of others, especially our own immediately family.)
While we are scooping fire into our lap, how can we at the same time be a nice and loving people to anyone? When we walk on hot coals, how can we lead a kind of life that everybody looks up to?
Yes, our sexuality is more than what Hollywood portrays on the screen. Trying to get pleasure out of our sexuality outside the way God created for us is like a little kid jumping off of the cliff thinking that it is just as fun as jumping on a bed.
Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6) – that means, we have no other way but Jesus, unless we choose to destroy our joy, peace and our very life. Jesus is the way, means, His word is the way to show us where to go.
“Your word is a lamp for my feet,
a light on my path.” (Psalm 119:105) ///
