Oh, THE NAME!

If we use the name of Jesus at the end of every sentence, we show that we don’t really know who Jesus is.

Few years ago, my hair used to be very long and I cut it too short. And the first person who saw me said, “In the name of Jesus! What did you do with your hair?”

Oh, THE NAME!

One of the Ten Commandments says this: “You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God – – -” (Exodus 20:7) Beloved, this is the Word of God, written for us!

One may say, “Well, we are free from those commandments through Christ Jesus!”

Yes, we are free to keep them to go to heaven but we are not free to disobey them because we are going to heaven.

Listen what Jesus said about that: “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.” Matthew 5:17

Yes, Jesus fulfilled all the commandments of God so that we won’t be judged against them. He did it all for us. Because of that the commandments are not requirements for us to enter the Kingdom of God. But Beloved, we are required and expected to live by them because we belong to the Kingdom of God through Christ Jesus; and we have the Spirit and Grace of Jesus in us to enable us to live by them.

Pharisees were people of law. They try to keep all the laws of God to enter the Kingdom of God. You and I know that nobody can be qualified to enter the Kingdom of God by keeping those laws but by believing in the work of Jesus Christ.

But Jesus said this to His Disciples comparing their life to the life of the Pharisees: “- – – unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 5:20

Wow, did you hear that? I think Jesus was in a way saying this to them: “I don’t live in the life of the Pharisees but I do live in you. Pharisees don’t have the Spirit of God and the Grace of God in them but you do! So, your righteous living should be better than them.”

You don’t find a Pharisee saying, “In the name of God, why did you cut your hair?” Oh, no! They don’t even spell the name of God fully when they write it. They write, “G-d” so that they won’t use it in vain.

After I worked with a Jew for few days once in my life, my life has forever been changed when it comes to calling my God’s name in vain. How he revered God and His Name was astonishing! And I remember thinking to myself, “The way I respect and revere my God should surpass this man’s way because I am the citizen of the Kingdom of God.”

Do you use your God’s name in vain for a haircut or for a drop of a hut? Oh, when we know who Jesus is; we fear Him, not because of fear of punishment but fear of respect and honor. When we learn respecting and honoring Him in the way He should be respected and honored, fire comes out of our mouth when we call His Name!
The devil won’t laugh at us when we tell him to move out of our way in our God’s Name. Are you serious! He won’t even have time to respond back to us! Fire comes out of our mouth and burns him!

The Name! Oh, the Name!

We citizen of heaven should revere the Name more than those who try to go to heaven by their own works and deeds. ///
