This is the kind of sermon we Christians need to listen to often.
We Christians are not immune from the pain and suffering of this life. We cry and shade some tears, just like everybody else. We at times get depressed and lose hope too.
But we should remind ourselves that in heaven, there is no pain, no tears, no separation from loved ones, no suffering, no depression, no change, no fears!
We cannot even fathom what that life is going to be like but we can believe what the Bible is telling us:
“Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”” Revelation 21:1-4
Amen!
Believing this truth will make us score the pain and suffering of this world.
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses [referring to people who have died believing God and His word], let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:1-2
“For the joy set before him” – Hallelujah!
Even Jesus needed something to gaze on so He could endure the cross.
Just like Jesus Christ, we too need to fix our eyes on heaven, the joy that is set before us, so we too can endure the pain of this life
“You will be healthy and wealthy” kind of sermons won’t do us any good except making us salves to all kinds of sins.
