Oh, Dr. Abiy! Look what our God is doing in and through you!
The Bible says,
“All the peoples of the earth are regarded as nothing. He [God] does as he pleases with the powers of heaven and the peoples of the earth. No one can hold back his hand or say to him: “What have you done?”” Daniel 4:35
Wow! “No one can hold back God’s hand and say, “What have you done?””
No one!
God will continue doing what He set out to do in and through you, Dr. Abiy! No one can stop Him nor you since you are in Christ! So, no turning back!
People can join you and work with you but if they choose to give you their backs, let them; but you, know that the hand of God is on you. No turning back knowing that no one can thwart God’s plan and purpose! No one!
The Bible says,
“I know that you[God] can do all things;
no purpose of yours can be thwarted.” Job 42:2
And the Bible says,
“For the LORD Almighty has purposed, and who can thwart him? His hand is stretched out, and who can turn it back?” Isaiah 14:27
The answer is again, “No one!”
The chairperson of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, she said, Dr. Abiy Ahmed Ali, the Ethiopian prime minister, “is a just recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize!”
Praise God!
The one character of Dr. Abiy that came out on display during his speech is humility.
Jesus said, “Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Matthew 11:29
If a person claims to be a follower/student/disciple of Jesus Christ, gentleness and humility will sooner or later mark his life and this man of God, Dr. Abiy Ahmed Ali, has these identifying marks of Jesus’ followers. Praise God!
It makes me so proud of the Holy Spirit for making me one of Jesus Christ’ followers, to be in the same group that Dr. Abiy belongs to. And even if I didn’t get to that spiritual maturity as Dr. Abiy, one day, I hope, pray and believe that Holy Spirit will get me there, to always be humble even when people, the devil and this dark world set fire on my head or throw me in the lion’s den. Till then, I put my eyes on people like Dr. Abiy and strive to emulate them.
Paul writes: “Join together in following my example, brothers and sisters, and just as you have us as a model, keep your eyes on those who live as we do.” Philippians 3:17
Let me say this at the end: Well, the Nobel committee chairperson and other speakers were careful to say that they were not saying that Dr. Abiy is the man to lead Ethiopia.
Well, I tell you what I think and believe?
Dr. Abiy Ahmed Ali is the man to lead Ethiopia!
I said this the day Dr. Abiy came to power and I will say it again today:
