If you look in the dictionary for the word or phrase “a lone ranger” you will find this definition: “one who acts alone and without consultation or the approval of others.”

Can one of my organs be a lone ranger and make it?

Hmm! Can you just imagine if my heart one day wants to act alone, take a decision without consulting with my brain and without the approval of the other body organs and say something like this: “I want to chill today; I want to take a one week vacation because I am tired of pumping blood?”

What do you think will happen to me? Forget about what will happen to the other body organs; can I even make it?

But is that how God made our bodies organs to work? Oh, no, God didn’t make our body organs to live and work alone but together with the other body parts. He did it in a way for one organ never to make it alone even if it wants to.

Let me ask you one question: If you find a stomach on the road, what do you do with it? You will definitely trash it before it pollutes the air, won’t you?

What if a dog finds a stomach on the road? If the dog is from one of poor countries, it sure will eat it (I said that because most American dogs don’t just eat anything because something smells good. They are well trained to stay away from putting everything in their mouth. Hmm, does that tell you something? Let me leave that for you to think about while I move on to my point.)

Sure, stomach can only be respected by other human beings and even by the dogs ONLY if it stays in the body. And the one thing a stomach doesn’t want to do is to separate itself from the body because it knows that it can’t make it alone.

Listen what the Bible says: “Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.” 1 Corinthians 12:27

Wow! Did you hear that? Listen what it says before this verse: “If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.” 1 Corinthians 12:26

There is no for example, a graduation party for a stomach or to a liver! Only to the Body!

If we choose to separate ourselves from the Body of Christ, we are like that stomach. We can’t make it alone. There is no “lone ranger-ism” in Christianity. No Christian made it alone in history of Christianity. Why do we then try it? The Word of God tells us that we can’t make it; history tells us that we can’t make it, then why are we trying it?

Whenever a person finds himself being taken over by porn and masturbation addictions, he should know that he is won over by those addictions because he is separated from the Body; since there is no “group sexual addiction.” Sure, he may have underlying reasons for him to be caught in these addictions, but the solution can’t be separating himself from “the herd.” Every sexual addict is alone! Lonely! Because sexual addiction can only attack and make slave of lonely people, people who are separated from the Body! (I didn’t say people who don’t come to church. They may come and even be in the ministry but they live alone and they are lonely.)

He may fast and pray but he won’t come out of it no matter how much he tries. He may be free from these addictions for a month or so but he will be engulfed by them before he knows it. Why? He is like the stomach on “the street” of life “all alone!” If he stops this kind of addiction, he moves on to the next addiction. If he gets old without any solution, he dies without being useful for the Body of Christ.

So, the message is this: Build a relationship with other believers. If you are a man, build close relationship with other men with whom you can talk more than the weather and politics; with whom you can talk about your sexual struggles; and fight the war together. If you are a woman, the same thing. Build healthy and authentic relationship with other women who are faithfully following Christ; women you can share your darkest struggles freely with and pray for one another.

Listen what the Bible says: “Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.” 2 Timothy 2:22 ///
