While the Bible is saying,
“You husbands in the same way, live with your wives in an understanding way, as with someone weaker, since she is a woman; and show her honor as a fellow heir of the grace of life, so that your prayers will not be hindered.” 1 Peter 3:7 NASB
why do some husbands accuse their wives for being a woman?
“live with” your wife “in an understanding way” – the only way to live with her.
Look at the whole verse again and notice how it puts some emphasis on “a wife” by saying, “since she is a woman.”
You may think “someone weaker” describes a wife.
Well, it definitely does describe the creation of a woman in relation to her husband but “she is a woman” describes a wife very well. And a woman can only to live and act like a woman.
Take a peek at her life:-
While her closet is full, she goes out to buy clothes or complains, “I don’t have any clothes to wear!”
She snaps at her husband for no apparent reason.
She vacuums the house while the house looks neat.
She cries over a story that happened 100 years ago.
During winter, she worries about the wild cats who live at her backyard.
She wants to sit and talk to her husband while she has nothing to talk about.
She wants to see her husband and kids around the dinner table while every one of them have something to do.
She does anything, including crying, to convince her husband to do what she wants him to do.
When she wants to receive love from her husband, she showers him with love.
Why?
She is a woman, not a man.
I mean, is that something hard to see, understand and live with?
Not really, right?
No! It is easy to understand to me who is writing this because I am a woman.
For a man, to understand a woman, he has to go to college and get five degrees.
Oh, no! He doesn’t have to.
The Bible suggests, oh, I mean, the Bible recommends, oh, my! No!
The Bible commands the husband to live with his wife “in an understanding way.”
Do you know what that means?
It means to live in knowledge that is higher than the general knowledge that is held among a community.
Where does that kind of understanding/knowledge come from?
You guessed it!
From God!
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” Proverbs 9:10 NASB
Did you see it?
Fascinating, isn’t it?
Someone may ask, “Are you saying a husband cannot find that kind of understanding from anywhere else but from God?”
No, I am not saying that. The Bible is. ///
