Let There Be!

Whenever I think about my salvation, I think about this verse:

“Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.” Genesis 1:3 NASB

Before God calls light over the earth, the earth was covered with darkness: “The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep” Genesis 1:2a NASB

Where did God create light from? From the darkness?

No! God is God. He created something from nothing!

My salvation is just like that.

My heart, my soul was covered with darkness. I was “dead in” my transgressions (Ephesians 2:1).

Then God, according to His will, on His own time, came to my soul and said, “Let there be light,” and I woke up from spiritual death.

So, Paul writes:

“For God, who said, “Light shall shine out of darkness,” is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.” 2 Corinthians 4:6 NASB
Beautiful!

Before God calls this light of the knowledge of the glory of God into our dark and dead souls, we won’t be able to know God and be saved.

That means, it is God who begins the work of salvation in us and He is the One who finishes it.

That is why the Bible says,

“He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus. ” Philippians 1:6b NASB

Luther writes:-

“God creates faith in the human heart the same way He created the world. He found nothing and He created something.” Martin Luther

Love it!

What a joy! What a hope! What a promise we have in Jesus! He who began a good work in us will finish it! There is no abandonment with God. HE IS FAITHFUL! We will make it to heaven because the One who is holding our hands is mightier than any force that tries to separate us from Him. ///
