A4P Guest: I think I was the 20th or 30th person to like your page. I’m one of your earliest supporters. The first time I came to your page, I thought I found an answer to all my questions. It was my morning routine to wait for your posts to read and get enlightened by them. Many times, I was convicted of my sin and cried before God.
But before long, within I will say three or four month, I went back to where I was. I began to sleep around, do drug and many things. Then I “disliked” your page so that it wouldn’t come to my news feed on my Facebook account.
Last week, one of my Facebook friends whom I invited to your page a long time ago shared one of your videos and I clicked it. I guess I once again was gripped by the truth of God I heard and I was kind of paralyzed. I wanted to cry but inside of me kept on saying, “You will go back to it; why should you?”
So far I watched the video three times. Please help me. I don’t seem to get it when it comes to letting the Truth of God lead my life. I don’t want to go back to my dangerous lifestyle. What do you advise me to do? Please respond back to my question.
A4P: Okay, I will respond back to your question to the best of my knowledge and ability with the Grace and Mercy of God but I also ask you to please read my response carefully!
Jesus said this to His Disciples,
“- – – A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants. Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop—a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown. Whoever has ears, let them hear.” Matthew 13:3-9
And they asked Him the meaning and He said this to them:
“When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in their heart. This is the seed sown along the path. The seed falling on rocky ground refers to someone who hears the word and at once receives it with joy. But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away. The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, making it unfruitful. But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.” Matthew 13:19-23
Well, the one difference we notice here among these four major groups of people is “a type of soil” or a condition of their hearts. Only one heart was praised by Jesus and that heart was referred by Jesus as “good soil.” That heart was ready to understand, receive, accept the Word and put it into practice.
Precious, that kind of heart won’t happen because of one sermon or ten. As a soil to be called as “good soil” needs a devoted farmer to work on it day and night, a receptive heart needs someone to attend it regularly.
If a farmer depends on the sun and rain to get the job done, do you think he/she will get a good return? No way!
There are thousands of teachers and preachers of the Word today and they are not farmers of the heart but “sowers” of the Word. They sow the seed on others’ heart. The work of nurturing and protecting the seed so that it gives forth “crops” belongs to the owner of the heart.
While you are continuing doing what you have been doing, hanging out with the same group of friends who helped you to go and stay in a destructive lifestyle; watching everyday four and half hours of TV shows which seem to tell you something you don’t know at the cost of sowing their own seeds in your heart (Matthew 13:25); how can you change your lifestyle my dear? It is impossible! You are asking yourself to do something which is impossible to do to any human being!
Be realistic! If you buy into “claim it and have it” doctrine, you are doomed! Because claim it and have it kind of doctrine seems to work for two or three people so far; not to everybody. What works for everybody is what Jesus said: Good soil gives forth crops multiple times what was sown on it. This works to everyone; whoever we are (or were); and wherever we are (or used to be).
My friend, be part of a local church; find a way to give back; stay away from the group of church people who go around and do NOTHING to the kingdom of God except “posing” as good Christians who know how to sing and preach but no life testimony whatsoever; have personal devotion with the Holy Spirit where you pray and talk to God, read and meditate the Word of God; have people you can be mentored and admonished by; people you let speak the Truth of God into your heart and reprove and reproach you when you are tripping.
“Seeking God is a community project!” It is a very true saying I heard yesterday.
Be patient with yourself and with the Truth of God because it takes time for us to change our lifestyle. As we don’t learn a destructive lifestyle and adopt it in a day, we can’t learn about a praiseworthy lifestyle and make it ours in a day. We need time!
Stay with the truth! Be focused! Expose yourself to the Truth daily! Don’t compromise and don’t hang out with people who compromise! “Bad company corrupts good morals.” 1 Corinthians 15:33
Then you shall surely start to see God’s move in your life!
The Bible says: “ You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:13
“- – – seek and you will find” Matthew 7:7
Seek the Kingdom of God with all your heart and all your frustrations and depressions will be changed into a passion of Christ. No other way! ///
