Our little son is the one who usually comes up with a biblical question which makes our brains hurt.
“Is God fair?”
You may say, “Duh, God is always fair.” Well, if you say that, let me ask you this: If a plane crashes and a loving husband of one woman and a father of four little kids die but another loving husband of one woman and a father of two survived, is God fair for both families for the second family? Tricky! Tricky!
Another question: “Does God hate Satan?”
Again, if you are like me, you may quickly respond to my little one by saying things like, “Yes, God hates Satan.”
But the Bible says, “God is love” (1 John 4:8). If He is love, how can He hate? The Bible says, “God loves Jacob but hates Esau” (Romans 9:13). Hmm, so God loves and hates too?
I know, this makes one’s brain hurt really bad. Wednesday night this was a discussion in our home and I gave up in the middle of the discussion because my brain started to hurt. We hoped for those Bible scholars such as John Piper or John MacArthur to visit us one day.
So, while the Bankos were getting into a heated discussion, I went to bed and began thinking about God and His nature. And do you know what soothed me to sleep?
His unchanging love for me! Oh, who can bring a discussion or a question about God’s love for me?
God through Christ Jesus loved (He still loves) me and nothing can change that; what I did or did not do or will or will not do can change that fact. He loves me forever! His love for me remains forever because God adopted me through Christ as His daughter!
Do you know that? Do you know that God is crazy about you? Yes, He is! Don’t listen to the devil. He is a liar. God loves you with unexplainable, immeasurable, unimaginable, and incomprehensible love! Get up from where the devil gets you stuck and embrace Jesus’ love for you! Live in His love! Oh the devil is a liar! Come back to your first Love, to the Shepherd and Overseer of your soul and find rest in His unchanging love! ///
