Hiding From Whom?

Adam and Eve, after they sinned against God, what was the first step they took?

“They sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loincloths.” Genesis 3:7a

Why did they make that?

Because they found out that they were naked. So to cover their nakedness, they sewed themselves leaf clothes.

To cover their nakedness from who?

No one was there but God. And were they covering their nakedness from God? Yes they were.

That is mockery for God who sees everything!

“Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.” Hebrews 4:13 NIV

I mean, we humans haven’t changed much since, have we?

We put that nice outfit and a nice smiley face – for what?

To cover our nakedness! From whom?

We may say, “From other people,” but do you know that we are actually trying to hide from God too?

If we are naked from people, we don’t get scared to be naked before God. If we are hiding from people, we are hiding from God too. This is true most of the time!

This is what I think God says to us when we try to hide from God but act like a respectful, God-fearing and God honoring person before man:

You foolish! Pitiful! Poor! Blind! Naked! Wretched! (Revelation 3:17 similar quote)

Why?
Because the elementary teaching of Christianity about God is this: God sees everything!

And knowing that fact, we go to God as we are at any time of the day so our lives will be free from a life of masquerade which has a stench of death before God.

We have a loving, caring, merciful, graceful and compassionate God in Christ, but we have to know that we don’t have a God who tolerates mockery. ///
