I love reading biographies!
Many Bible scholars recommend for Christians to read biographies of men and women who went before us. Their life experiences benefit us in many ways.
Sorry if I set you up to think that I’m going to talk about a biography book but I am not.
I am reading Arthur Walkington Pink’s book, “The Sovereignty of God.”
You know what? A. W. Pink is becoming one of my favorite preachers of the 1800th. Sometimes, I have to stop reading because my eyes get filed with tears with the truth of God he is unpacking through the pages. Just breathtaking!
Anyways, you find a short biography of Pink at the beginning of his book, “The Sovereignty of God,” and I want to share just part of it with you.
He was in cult?????
I know! I said the same thing. But notice what made him run back to God and be the man of God.
Nothing but the reading and studying of the word of God!
Surprised?
Not me! The word of God is alive and powerful (Hebrews 4:12). He changes lives! It turns it upside down or the other way around.
Jesus said, “The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life.” John 6:63
In this quarantine time, as much as we can, let’s strive to make the reading and studying of the word of God our food, drink, work and everything else. ///
