Happy Ethiopian New Year And – – –

Happy Birthday to me!

Yeap! Tomorrow is my birthday too!

As my mom told me, I was born on Meskerem 01 at 7am (“Meskerem” is the first month of the Ethiopian Calendar).

Did you connect the dots??? Yes, that is why they called me Meskerem.

I guess they first called me Enkutatatsh and they’ve changed their minds after few days, as I heard the story. I mean, I wouldn’t have minded if my name was Enkutatash since that too tells the story of my birthday.

Yes, I am getting older but I know a God who does not get old! He does not have a birthday because He is the Creator of everything.  He has neither a beginning nor an ending! He always lives!

Oh, LORD ““Of old You founded the earth,
And the heavens are the work of Your hands.
“Even they will perish, but You endure;
And all of them will wear out like a garment;
Like clothing You will change them and they will be changed.
“But You are the same,
And Your years will not come to an end.
“The children of Your servants will continue,
And their descendants will be established before You.”” Psalm 102:25-27 NASB

Amen!

Happy Ethiopian New Year to all of you, Ethiopians! Happy 2014!

I know,  2013 hasn’t been a good year for us, Ethiopians. But know this:

“God is our refuge and strength,
A very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change
And though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea;
Though its waters roar and foam,
Though the mountains quake at its swelling pride. Selah.
There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
The holy dwelling places of the Most High.
God is in the midst of her, she will not be moved;
God will help her when morning dawns.” Psalm 45:1-5 NASB

Yes, morning will surely dawn to Ethiopia soon! Hang in there! Wait expectantly! Wait on the Lord in prayer! ///
