I think it’s been two weeks or less now since I’ve heard this news, about Joshua Harris divorcing his wife, the mother of his beautiful three children, and calling her “his friend” and announcing on his Instagram post that he is no more a Christian, a believer in Jesus Christ. (It looks like, his next announcement will be: “I am gay.” Oh, God, save us!)

My older son, Abel, shared with us yesterday one article posted on christianpost.com, title “Joshua Harris made the right decision, here’s why” by Will Vining, Voices Contributor. I guess this article gives you a completely different wonderful perspective into these ordeals. I call it ordeals because it’s been a painful news for me and many. I am still trying to recover from the news.

I read most of Joshua Harris’s books. My favorite ones are: “Not even a hint,” “Sex is not the problem, lust is,” “Boy meets Girl,” and more. The one book that was famous, I guess it still is, is “I Kissed Dating goodbye.” (he wrote this book in 1997, when he was just 21 years old) I bought that book the moment it came out on the market and I finished reading it with a heavy heart, not agreeing with most of his ideas in that book. I remember arguing with some people who agreed with him. Then I think in 2016, he came out and recanted whatever he said in that book.

Now in a hinge sight, people are saying that that was the beginning of his drift from the faith.

Now after his public announcement, some people who believe that people can gain or lose their salvation ask, “Does he lose his salvation?” – How can a dead person get salvation by himself  or lose his salvation if his salvation is held by the God of the Universe? I am not sure about that.

But, it is Jesus who begins the work of salvation in us and He is the One who brings it to completion (Philippians 1:6). It is God Himself who loved us first, He is the One who found us first. So, if Josh had salvation, he cannot lose it. So, people pose this kind of question: Joshua Harris, even if he knew how to speak and write “Christianize,” he’s never been saved as the Bible says,  “They went out from us, but they did not really belong to us. For if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us; but their going showed that none of them belonged to us.” 1 John 2:19

Instead of me writing what I wanted to say here, let me share with you this video show because everything I wanted to say, these two young pastors are saying.

Please listen to what they are saying carefully. And please, let’s be careful not to say anything hateful or nasty against Joshua Harris. We still don’t know exactly what is going on with him. It is better for us all to pray for him, for his wife (I guess now, ex-wife) and his three children. This might be one of those “middle age crisis” thing that many men go through. We don’t know. So, let’s just lift Josh, his wife and children up in our prayers.

But since he came out publicly apologizing for what the word of God says and what he said in his messages and books, especially regarding LGBTQ+, it is appropriate for me and others to come out and share our thoughts in public. It is just sad!

And it is right for me to say this: From this day on, I will not recommend any of his books to anyone. I don’t think it is right for me to do so, because he is the man who publicly denounced Jesus Christ and His words.

May God help us all to test our lives and see if we are indeed in Christ!
