The Bible says, “The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”” Genesis 2:18
The other meaning to the word “suitable” is “a lifesaver.”
And this “lifesaver” partner was found from the man’s body:
“So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs and then closed up the place with flesh.” Genesis 2:21
“That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.” Genesis 2:24
They were one in the beginning, Eve was in Adam before God took her out of him. In marriage, God put them back to be one again.
Paul writes: “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her – – – He who loves his wife loves himself. After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church” Ephesians 5:25, 28b, 29
For a married man, loving his wife should be his number one priority so he can live a meaningful and fulfilling life.
You see, I did not come up with this concept or idea but the Author of Life, God did. The society didn’t come up with this idea of a wife being “a life-saver” to her husband either. God did.
So, if a married man decides to live against this truth, it means he decides to live against his own life.
So, please! I beg you!
If you are a husband of one wife, do everything you can to learn how to love your wife, which by the way is a very easy thing to learn and do. Why? Because all wives across the board need small things from their husbands for them to feel loved and treasure by their own husbands, small things such as:
Holding her hands and taking her out for a 20-minute long walk;
Praying for and blessings her out-loud for at least for one-minute while she listens;
Speaking to her kindly such as, “How are you doing today? I was thinking about you.”
Noticing her when she dresses up and saying, “You look stunningly pretty much, my Love!”
Hugging and touching her tenderly, but outside the bedroom;
Appreciating her for living with you. Yes! You. Say something like, “Thank you for putting up with me! Thank you for forgiving me of many of my mistakes, errors and faults;” and more.
Doing and saying these things and other similar things won’t cost you a penny but to do them, it demands a humble heart and contrite spirit which you can only get at the feet of Jesus Christ.
So, all I am saying is this: Love your wife FOR YOUR OWN SAKE!
And the following book will help you to do just that:
“Do Yourself a Favor: Love Your Wife” by H. Page Williams.
