While raising our little kids, some older couples told us, to my husband and I, “This season of life will soon be over and you two will get your own alone time.”
I used to roll my eyes and say, “yeah right” because it didn’t feel like those days were going anywhere.
Well, as those people promised us, those days are gone and my Babe and I were able to enjoy a beautiful getaway, without any worry as to who would take care of our kids. And it’s an understatement to say, “we enjoyed our getaway!” Praise God! God is good!
It’s my prayer that this post will encourage those couples who are struggling to make it through this day with little kids.
You see, this kind of day, the day my husband and I are enjoying now, is in store for you too! So, hang in there and do a good job of parenting your little ones in the way they should go!
“Train up a child in the way he should go,
Even when he is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6 NASB
May God help you!
From our trip, my husband and I got home yesterday night and the moment we got home, I said, “Hooray! It’s always good to be home!”
My little one, Biruk (18), was in the kitchen. Smiling at me, he said, “Yeah, it is good! But mom, we’re very far away from our real Home!”
(I know, he is just like his dad. He knows what to say when.)
He totally caught me off guard. And he is absolutely right!
This is not our home. Our home is in heaven. Our real home is our home forever!
And I remembered one of Building 429’s songs that goes something like this:
“All I know is I’m not home yet
This is not where I belong
Take this world and give me Jesus
This is not where I belong”
Just beautiful!
Do you have that hope in your heart? Do you comfort your soul saying, “Jesus Christ will soon make everything alright as He gathers us all together into our eternal home!”
Some people have gloomy face whenever the topic of eternity comes up because the only thing they think or imagine is death, cemetery, graveyards; not a wedding party, dinner party where all the guests are dressed up well, smiling (not a fake smile but a real smile that comes from the inside joy).
But, how can we truly imagine that world while we’re down here, living in this dark world, sitting in a dying body?
We can!
The Bible says, “Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.” Colossians 3:2 NASB
And we can fix our eyes only on Scriptures:
“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them, and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.”” Revelation 21:1-4 NASB
Wow! Did you see that?
Yes, “All I know is I’m not home yet
This is not where I belong”
Remind your soul that this is not your home! For those of us who are in Christ, this world is not our home for the Bible says,
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” John 3:16 NASB
“He who has the Son [Jesus Christ] has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life.” 1 John 5:12 NASB ///
