Some people ask me if I believe in election and predestination and I always reply to them, “You mean, do I believe in the Bible, in the word of God?”

Because those two concepts were not coined by one smart aleck but by the Holy Spirit because that is the truth He wants to communicate with us.

From the zillion verses that talk about election and predestination, for some reason, this verse touches me the most:

Acts 13:48b “and all who were appointed for eternal life believed.”

Isn’t that fascinating?

That means, preaching the Gospel is pretty much searching for those who are appointed for eternal life. And this again is the work of the Holy Ghost but for our joy, He called us to work with Him. Don’t you love that? I do!

It is God who knows those people who are appointed to eternal life, not us. Our job is to proclaim the Gospel to all.

Proclaiming, or, heralding, the Good News means telling others about Christ Jesus. That is all!

We are not called to lie and manipulate, or fight or argue with anyone but to herald the Good News to all with a sincere and genuine heart. Those who are appointed for eternal life will hear our message and respond to God.

And the sovereignty of God is evident in the story of salivation of every child of God. It is fascinating to see how God orchestrates many things to draw that one appointed sheep to His pen.

That is why Jesus said this:

“I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me— just as the Father knows me and I know the Father—and I lay down my life for the sheep. I HAVE OTHER SHEEP THAT ARE NOT OF THIS SHEEP PEN. I MUST BRING THEM ALSO. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd.” John 10:14-16 (capitalization is added for the purpose of emphasis)

Love it!

All who are appointed to eternal life have to come the Pen before Jesus comes back again.

So today I want to herald the call of Jesus here to those who are appointed for eternal life:

Jesus said, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30 ///
