Antidote for Destructive Anger

Sin entered our planet once Adam and Eve chose to disobey their Creator (Genesis 3). After that every human being has been conceived and born into this world in sin, being a sinner from birth, including you and me.

David said,

“For I was born a sinner— yes, from the moment my mother conceived me.” Psalm 51:5NLT

God and man became enemies starting from Adam and Eve. All of us came to this world as enemies of God. The word of God says this about all of us,

“There is none righteous, not even one;
There is none who understands,
There is none who seeks for God;
All have turned aside, together they have become useless;
There is none who does good,
There is not even one.”
“Their throat is an open grave,
With their tongues they keep deceiving,”
“The poison of asps is under their lips”;
“Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness”;
“Their feet are swift to shed blood,
Destruction and misery are in their paths,
And the path of peace they have not known.”
“There is no fear of God before their eyes.”” Romans 3:11-18NASB

No human being comes to this life seeking and loving God. We all hate God and we don’t want anything to do with God. In short, we all come to this world as sinners. No exception!

The only Son of Man who came to this world without sin was (is) Jesus Christ and Jesus Christ came to reconcile us with God. He came as the Lamb of God, to be the sin sacrifice for our sin.

John the Baptist testified about Jesus Christ like this:

“Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” John 1:29NASB

Amen!

The work of the cross of Jesus Christ is to reconcile us with God our Creator. Paul writes this truth this way:

“For he [Jesus Christ] himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility by abolishing the law of commandments expressed in ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace, and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby killing the hostility. And he came and preached peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near. For through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father.” Ephesians 2:14-18ESV

Amen! When we accept and believe that the work of the cross of Christ as done on our behalf, we will have peace with God. If we don’t accept and reject this truth, the wrath of God remains on us as it says,

“He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.” John 3:36NASB

And if we reject this free gift of God, God’s wrath remains on us. One of the major marks that the wrath of God is on us is this: We live in “anger!”

We are enemies of God and we have absolutely no peace with Him as well as with ourselves. And a person who has no peace with God and himself cannot live without anger.

Do you see the main source of human anger, the anger that is destructive to life? And this anger first destroys every precious and beneficial relationship we have such as our marriages, families and all. And at the end, anger destroys our life.

So, if we don’t have peace with God today, don’t appoint any other day or time to have peace with God. Call on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ now and confess your faith in His work on the cross on your behalf. Then receive your peace with God.

Peace with God is the beginning of true peace for our soul and heart. When we have that peace in our hearts, we become willing to give what we have in our hearts, which the peace we have from God, to the people next to us. That means our spouses; children, relatives and friends won’t be victims of our uncontrollable and destructive anger.

If we already have peace with God but still live in anger that destroys our beautiful relationships, we need to go to the basics, confess and repent of our sins and return back to the Shepherd of our soul. ///
