Who is mentoring you?

Who is your role model?

Whose lifestyle are you trying to emulate?

If you are one of those “super-born-again Christians” or “hyper-born-again Christians,” you may answer the above questions like this:

“Jesus Christ is my role model and He is my mentor; and Bible is the only book I read.”

Paul writes: “Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.” (Philippians 4:9)

Why didn’t he say, “whatever you’ve heard and learned from Jesus Christ, put it into practice?”

Because Jesus lives in all of us who profess to know, worship, love Jesus Christ and fellowship with His Spirit.

So John writes: “Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen.” (1 John 4:20)

Do you see it? Our love for God has to be first tested by our love to our brothers/sisters in Christ. In the same way, there is no, “Jesus is my mentor and role model” things while we keep ourselves very far away from other Christians.

So, it is imperative that we have to have “human being,” better yet, Christian role models, mentors that we strive to emulate after.

I specially want to leave this advice to young people who are yet to embark on marriage.

If you are a single person and all you have is you and your ways of doing life, you are in a very dangerous place and let me tell you something with certainty that you will make, if you haven’t already done so, a big mistake that you will regret.

Let these two verses be lead verses in your life as a single Christian person so you always remember to have older, wiser and matured people in your life who can hold you accountable and responsible for your life for your own good:

“There is a way which seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.” (Proverbs 14:12, 16:25 NASB)

“For by wise guidance you will wage war, And in abundance of counselors there is victory.” (Proverbs 24:6 NASB) ///
