During the ancient Roman Empire, if you stop a man and ask his views about sex or about women, he would describe it this way:
“We keep prostitutes for pleasure; we keep mistresses for the day to day needs of the body; we keep wives for the faithful guardianship of our homes.”
?
Well, first, I am glad that I was not created at that time.
Second, it doesn’t matter what the era is, I don’t want to be any of these women: I don’t want to be a prostitute, or a mistress and I definitely don’t want to be the wife to a man who is considering me as a machine, giving birth to children and running a home.
Of course those women in the Roman Empire time didn’t choose to be one of these women; the society demanded it.
Today, society doesn’t demand this from woman, at least here in America. Here, you choose to be what you want to be.
So, what do I want to be?
I want to be the person God created me to be. I want to be a WOMAN!
I want to be a “wo–man.”
I want to be a one-man woman who woos one man. I want to be loved and treasured by one man. I want to be a mother to my kids and a treasured life partner to my husband, who is a one-woman man.
I want to be a WOMAN and I choose to stay like that until the end of my life.
I love to read this passage in the Bible:
“So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; then He took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh at that place. The Lord God fashioned into a woman the rib which He had taken from the man, and brought her to the man.” Genesis 2:21-22
God took me out of my husband’s side. He didn’t “create” me like He created my husband. Rather, God created my husband and He took me out of him.
Since I came out of my husband, I should be back to him and be ONE with him.
“The man said,
“This is now bone of my bones,
And flesh of my flesh;
She shall be called Woman,
Because she was taken out of Man.”
For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh. And the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed.” Genesis 2:23-25
For this reason! For what reason???
That the woman was found from him, she came out of him, taking his bone and flesh, she shall be called WOMAN!
LOVE IT!
So, Peter, a married Apostle, writes:
“You husbands in the same way, live with your wives in an understanding way, as with someone weaker, since she is a woman; and show her honor as a fellow heir of the grace of life, so that your prayers will not be hindered.” 1 Peter 3:7
Live with them “in an understanding way.” – Why? Their nature is created in the most complicated way. They are wired more so emotionally than any other way. So, they are sensitive. And this emotionally wired woman has to be held in “Honor.”
Honor her by not viewing her as a mistress, a prostitute or a maid, but as “a fellow heir of the grace of life.” See her as one WOMAN left on this earth, specifically for you.
Beautiful, isn’t it?
So for me to feel honored by my husband, I have to be treated by him as a WOMAN, not as a maid, or as a mistress or as a prostitute, but honored as a woman.
But I have to know who I am first before I demand to be treated in a certain way. I have to know my original creation. I have to first know that I am a WOMAN. Then I don’t let any man treat me any other way but as a WOMAN.
If I know who I am, how can I let anyone treat me like any other way than the way I am? ///
