Listening from fathers who have been students of the Scriptures for more than half a century is nothing but a pure blessing of God, don’t you think so?
These men of God are not preaching themselves or how to have a better life in this world. They simply preach Christ and Christ only. What is amazing for me personally is the river of wisdom and knowledge flowing from their mouth! Oh, how beautiful the word of God!
“The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life” Proverbs 10:11a ESV
We usually hear a common saying, “old people are boring,” right? Well, not with these men of God. As they get older, their wisdom and understanding of the word of God has increased and it is hard to be bored listening to them.
I usually sit and watch conversations or panel discussions of men of God like them mainly because it is a safe way for me to here book recommendations. Let me tell you something: Get every book these men of God recommends and you won’t be disappointed. It’s hard eko today to just go to a bookstore or serf online to buy books. I mean, today everybody seems to write about Jesus and it is very hard to know to which Jesus they are writing about.
But the truth is once we know how an authentic “wine” tastes like, we know the counterfeit one way before we put it in our mouth, you know what I mean?
Jesus said this to His Disciples:
“And no one, after drinking old wine wishes for new; for he says, ‘The old is good enough.’” Luke 5:39 NASB
But still we all need to be sober as to what we let our eyes see and our ears hear because the false jesus is always funny, interesting, giving us that “huh” moments every second as if we found the key to lasting happiness. Yes, false jesus does not demand anything, he says, “Enjoy this life because I suffer for you. Prosperity, health and wealth are yours because I died so you find them all.”

The True Jesus, Jesus of the word of God is the One we hear and read about every day again and again. He is the One who came from God, born from Virgin Mary and died on the cross for sinners like me, paid all our debts and reconcile us to our Heavenly Father. After He finished His work on earth, Jesus ascended to heaven saying, “Behold, I am coming soon.” Revelation 22:12
Wow! Does anything comfort the people of God as the hope of the return of Jesus Christ to earth! The hope they have in Christ is the foundation of their joy. Their joy is built on this hope and until their faith on this hope turns to sight, their joy lives on.
This world, however, has no clue about this kind of joy but the funny thing is this very dark world which has no clue about peace, joy and rest offers us its own version of peace, joy and rest which build on possessing some material stuff from this earth.
You know what that means, for people of God to be comforted by things of this world? It means “adultery.” Oh, yes!
This is like a wife of one man saying, “I get pleasure from that other guy than my husband.”
Oh, my! God forbids!
Anyways, please sit and listen to this amazing conversation. After listening to these men of God, you want to know Jesus. Your soul won’t rest with “I already know Jesus” statements. Oh, no! You thirst and hunger for Christ, righteousness and the Kingdom of God.
