A4P Guest: Why do you always talk about sex? Why don’t you talk about love, heaven, hell, and all those things Jesus spoke about when He was here on earth? What do you call your ministry and what kind of role do you play in the Body of Christ? I’m confused. You are a woman too, aren’t you? What kind of Bible are you reading? The Bible says, “A woman should cover her hair and a woman shouldn’t speak in public.” Why are you going against the Word of God? For how long are you planning to continue doing this?

A4P: This is the kind of question I tend to read five times before I start moving my fingers on a keyboard trying to answer. Why do I take my time? Well, because I want to make sure that I put in place four of my basic principles in addressing questions such as this one. So, here are the principles I want to follow:

First, I don’t want to defend myself in any way or form when it comes to what I do in the Kingdom of God. Because if I believe what I do is from God, God should be my defender, not me. Second, I want to use the most respectful tone I can use to respond to the person who asked the question because God is my audience, He cares more about my tone which is a reflection of my heart than my correct and right answer. Third, I want to respond without attacking the person regardless of what I feel at the moment because again God cares more about my motive, intention and attitude than my biblically right answers. Fourth; I want to address each question individually without taking anything personal.

I pray I will follow all these principles carefully while I address each one of these questions.

“Why do you always talk about sex?”

Because, anything related to sexual purity and sexual immorality is the message which usually surfaces in my heart, soul, mind and brain all the time. Whenever I find a different message, I make sure I deliver it without keeping anything behind.

“Why don’t you talk about . . . other things Jesus spoke?”

From all the different things Jesus spoke, sex was one of them. It will make this post long if I try to mention them all here; he spoke about cohabitation, sex before marriage, marriage, divorce, raising kids and all. So, in a way, I am addressing one of the issues Jesus spoke about.

“What do you call your ministry?”

Well, I usually don’t like to call it “my” ministry because I believe with all my heart, soul, mind and spirit that this is God’s ministry, not mine. And this ministry is called Appeal for Purity Ministry.

“What kind of role do you play in the Body of Christ?”

I believe I play a vitally important role in the Body of Christ as any member of the Body of Christ does.

“You are a woman too, aren’t you?”

Yes, I’m a woman.

“What kind of Bible are you reading?”

I try to read all kinds of Bible versions, from KJV to NIV, including The Message (MSG).

“The Bible says, a woman should cover her hair and should not speak in public. Why are you going against the Word of God?”

God forbid for me to go against the Word of God knowing that I’m going against it. Yes, the Bible says a woman should cover her hair and should not speak in public (1 Corinthians 11, 1 Corinthians 14, & 1 Timothy 2). However, I strive to lead my life not according to what one or two Bible verses say (because doing so makes me a follower of a cult); but according to the message of the whole Bible. And the same Bible says, “There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” (Galatians 3:28)

And another passage of Scripture says: “For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; IF IT IS TEACHING, THEN TEACH; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.” (Romans 12:4-8)

I don’t see gender being the issue here but being called and gifted to do a specific task. So, in light of the above two passages and many more, I see 1 Corinthians 11, 14 and 1 Timothy 2 as chapters given to that specific church situation Paul wanted to address to.

“For how long are you planning to do this?”

I don’t think it is up to me to decide for how long I am going to do what I am currently doing. I think and believe that it is up to God who knows our beginning and ending. I mean if it is up to me, believe me, I want to do what I do now until I take my last breath.

I think I answered all the questions to the best of my knowledge, in light of all my four principles I laid out before. But before I close this, I want to say something:

If we see a ministry and we think that it is not from God, let’s give it time while we pray and wait. If it is not definitely from God, it will crumble down (Acts 5:38-39). If we think it is from God, let’s give it time too. If it is indeed from God, we will see it flourishing and taking over the land and changing the lives of many for the better. Through it all, waiting on God in prayer will be the best thing for us to do for our own sake because sometimes, we may find ourselves fighting against God and the Work of God. And setting ourselves against God is, my dearest, the toughest place to be in life because the Bible says, “those who oppose the Lord will be broken.” (1 Samuel 2:10a) ///
