You know, sometimes when I read the Bible, I find myself saying, “Wow! This is pretty straightforward!”
And if you ask me, I don’t know of any chapter of the Bible as straightforward as Proverbs chapter two. It gives priceless advice to both young man and young woman.
For a young woman, the advice reads like this:
“Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked men,
from men whose words are perverse,
who have left the straight paths
to walk in dark ways,
who delight in doing wrong
and rejoice in the perverseness of evil,
whose paths are crooked
and who are devious in their ways.” Proverbs 2:12-15

who have left the straight paths
to walk in dark ways,
who delight in doing wrong
and rejoice in the perverseness of evil,
whose paths are crooked
and who are devious in their ways.” Proverbs 2:12-15
And for a young man, just listen:
“Wisdom will save you also from the adulterous woman,
from the wayward woman with her seductive words,
who has left the partner of her youth
and ignored the covenant she made before God.
Surely her house leads down to death
and her paths to the spirits of the dead.
None who go to her return
or attain the paths of life.” Proverbs 2:16-19

Well, where can one find this “wisdom” the word of God is talking about?
We find the answer in the same chapter:
“My son, if you accept my words
and store up my commands within you,
turning your ear to wisdom
and applying your heart to understanding—
indeed, if you call out for insight
and cry aloud for understanding,
and if you look for it as for silver
and search for it as for hidden treasure,
then you will understand the fear of the Lord
and find the knowledge of God.
For the Lord gives wisdom;
from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.”
and store up my commands within you,
turning your ear to wisdom
and applying your heart to understanding—
indeed, if you call out for insight
and cry aloud for understanding,
and if you look for it as for silver
and search for it as for hidden treasure,
then you will understand the fear of the Lord
and find the knowledge of God.
For the Lord gives wisdom;
from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.”
Proverbs 2:1-6
Wow! “from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.”
Paul plainly shows us where we can find this wisdom:
“It is because of him (God) that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption.” 1 Corinthians 1:30
Jesus Christ is “wisdom from God” – this wisdom from God saves a young man from adulterous women and a young woman from wicked men.
Do you have this “wisdom from God” in your heart? ///
