This is advice to young parents with little kids from the older woman.
Well, the older woman who is giving advice today in this video is me, Missy, based on the following passage:
“You, however, must teach what is appropriate to sound doctrine. Teach the older men to be temperate, worthy of respect, self-controlled, and sound in faith, in love and in endurance.
Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.” (Titus 2:1-5)
My message is to those young mothers and fathers, primarily to those beautiful young mothers with little kids.
For those who cannot understand Amharic, this is what I am saying.
“There is a season for every activity.
There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens – – –
He has made everything beautiful in its time. – – – ” (Ecclesiastes 3:1, 11a)
Raising kids is one of the most important seasons of life. We have to see this season of our lives as a major season that needs all our attentions and focus. It demands lots of sacrifices on our part. For instant, during this season of time, it is okay to miss some wedding parties.
While your kids are small, it is good to be friends with those parents who have little kids like you. And when you have a party to go to, you can ask these parents to babysit your kids so you and your spouse can have a special date night, WITHOUT YOUR KIDS! Of course you will return your friends’ kindness when they need your help.
Welcome all the changes of life that come with raising little kids. Embrace and appreciate this season with all the changes it brings to our lives. This season is not here to stay. It will soon pass away because it is a season. Do everything you can to protect and raise your kids while this season lasts. Read books on raising kids, learn from other parents who are raising little kids like you. Then guess what, God will do His part of raising your kids the way they should go and make you laugh at the days to come:
“She is clothed with strength and dignity;
she can laugh at the days to come.” (Proverbs 31:25)
Strength and dignity can only come from God! Praying for God to raise your kids without you doing your part is nothing but foolishness.
May the grace of God be on you all, young parents with little kids! ///
