The Question We Need To Answer

This is one of Jesus’ life changing parables:

“What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open country, and go after the one that is lost, until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep that was lost.’ Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.” Luke‬ ‭15‬:‭4‬-‭7‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Hmm!

What a Shepherd we have!

If we are God’s sheep, we have a Shepherd whose name is Jesus Christ. And Jesus has enough knowledge about sheep. No need for anyone to give Him briefings regarding the nature of sheep. He knows that His sheep are prone to stray away. Once they get lost, they don’t know how to find their way back home. If they get lost, it means that is their end because they don’t know how to find their way back.

So these sheep need a kind of Shepherd who is watchful 24/7 and if they disappear from His sight, He won’t rest until He goes, looks for them and finds them. He does this even for one sheep.

Jesus said this about Himself:

“Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. All who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. He who is a hired hand and not a shepherd, who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees, and the wolf snatches them and scatters them. He flees because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep. I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me, just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep.”” John‬ ‭10‬:‭7‬-‭15‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Amen! It is not only we know our Lord and Savior. He knows us, He knows us one by one. The value of each one of us is equal to “I lay down my life for the sheep.” Do you see that? Isn’t this  amazing?

So Jesus will never lose “a sheep!” Never!

So the devil cannot scare us saying, “But you will soon get lost and you know that you cannot find your way back.”

Our response to him is: “We have a faithful Shepherd who knows no sleep! We are in His hands and no one can snatch us out of His hand.

But the question we need to answer is this: “Are we Jesus’ sheep?” ///
