It is tough to see on the news this morning those Egyptian Christian men being on their knees to be – beheaded by the ISIS. Sitting here in the breakfast hall of the hotel I’m in and watching this heinous act broke my heart into smaller pieces.
I was about to take one bite of my muffin when I watched the news and it was kind of hard to take another bite.
Then I thought about these verses:
“Some trust in chariots and some in horses,
but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.
They are brought to their knees and fall,
but we rise up and stand firm.” Psalm 20:7-8
And I took comfort knowing that these men have life after death, they rise up and stand firm because there is life after death for us who are in Christ.
There is a wonderful ceremony waiting for us, a ceremony where we receive award from Christ! There is a magnificent wedding dinner party we all are invited to!
Paul comforted Thessalonian Christians, who at the time were put to death because of their faith, saying, “encourage each other with these words.” Which words?
“For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.” 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17
My friend, let’s comfort our heart today knowing that we have a city to go to. We have a loving Lord we are going to be with forever and ever. What else is there today to take comfort from than that? Nothing! ///
