Well, I don’t know who you are going to point your finger to; but me, I point my index finger right to my own heart.
Who else is slothful, negligent and foolish than a Christian who tries to live Christianity without prayer and reading/studying the Bible!
Well, sometimes, after preaching/teaching, praying and reading/studying the Bible, receiving many “God bless you” messages, I see pride creeping into my heart and whispering into my ears: “You don’t have to pray today. You have it all under control. You don’t need to read the Bible either. You read your Bible yesterday and nothing will happen to you today if you don’t pray, read/study the Bible. Just chill for a change.”
You know the funny part? I believe it and start to chill.
How foolish!
Then, once again, I see the power of the indwelling sin, that is always ready to devour my life and me, moving into my soul with a speed of light.
Paul puts it this way: “So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me.” (Romans 7:21)
Evil is right there with me! That means, I need to always remind myself that Christianity is not a profession, but a life in Christ that needs to be pursued and sought after 24/7.
Oh, LORD, help me to be vigilant and sober in season and out of season. Amen. ///
