Sex Should Be An Okay Thing

A4P Guest: I have a quick question. So, my girlfriend is an Ethiopian girl. I love her very much and she loves me too. So, my question is this: What’s wrong with having sex before marriage? I don’t think we need to sanctify our flesh here on earth since the Bible says, “flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God” (1 Corinthians 15:50) and “The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing,” (John 6:63). So, as long as my girlfriend and I keep our soul and spirit holy, sex should be an okay thing since it is done on the flesh. So, can you give me few more verses to go over with my girlfriend since she is struggling to accept this truth?

A4P: Truth?

I hope this is not a joke.

I have heard this famous “gospel” recently and I think you’re one of the victims of this faulty and erroneous gospel: “Man is a combination of flesh, soul and spirit and his two parts, his soul and spirit, are the only two parts that go to heaven but his flesh is going to decay and be thrown into hell; so whatever he does with his flesh on earth, God is not going to count it against him.”

What an adulterated, perverted and twisted gospel! This is a very dangerous teaching that jeopardizes not only your “future” marriage but also your life.

If you’ve heard this kind of teaching from your local church, I believe you need to leave that church and look for a true Gospel believing and teaching church. Don’t try to change the church nor the leaders. You’ll lose your sanity trying to do that. More often than not, a church starts to have a problem with her teaching when she starts to compromise on the message of purity and holiness, marriage and family. So, just leave!

If you’ve heard this message from one of those televangelists or You-tubers who could care less about your spiritual well-being, unplug yourself from their messages.

And my friend, make this one of your life principles:

“I am not going to lead my life based on what one or two Bible verses say but by the whole message of the Bible.”

For example, look at the following three verses in light of 1 Corinthians 15:50 & John 6:63.

“May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. ” (1 Thessalonians 5:23)

“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.” (Romans 12:1)

“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.” (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)

Do you see my point? May God help you see the word of God as a whole, not as a collection of verses or “sayings”; Jesus as a Rock, not as a pile of pebbles! ///
