Jesus said,
“Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.” John 14:27 NASB
Don’t you love that? I do!
One of the main identifying characters of “peace” this world gives is fluctuating. It goes up and down. It comes and goes, depending solely on what we feel at the moment.
But the peace that we have in Christ is here with us to stay. It stays with us no matter what. No one and nothing can take it from us.
But this peace just because it came to us through Christ for free does not mean it is cheap.
Listen:-
“But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.” Isaiah 54:5
Jesus was crushed and punished on our behalf so we become qualified to receive this unsearchable and indescribable peace of God.
But if one does not accept and believe in the cross of Jesus Christ, he/she is a stranger to this kind of peace because how can anyone have peace while eternal damnation is in store for him?
“”There is no peace for the wicked,” says the LORD.” Isaiah 48:22
Yes, the foundation of our peace is on the fact that we are at peace with the Almighty God. Paul writes: “and through him[Christ] to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.” Colossians 1:20
Praise God!
Because Jesus shed His blood on the cross, we have peace with God. If we have peace with God, do you know what that means?
It means, God is on our side! God is for us, not against us.
And “If God is for us, who is against us?” Romans 8:31b
The answer is, no one!
You may ask, “But how can you say that? What about those who kill us? They are against us.”
That is why Jesus said this:
“Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Matthew 10:28 NASB
Knowing this truth about our God gives us another peace.
Praise God! ///
