One minute Adam and Eve were living a perfect life, then the next minute they were doomed and kicked out of the Eden Garden.
Why?
Satan posed one critical question to Eve: “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?” (Genesis 3:1)
Do you know that Satan never changes his question? No, never! Do you know why?
It works most of the time. If it works, why does he need to change it? No point!
Adam and Eve were allowed to eat from all the trees in the Garden EXCEPT ONE and the enemy wanted them to think as if they were forbidden to eat from “any tree in the garden”.
Today Satan uses this same strategy and asks:
“Did God really say, “You must not have sex?” What does God get from keeping you from enjoying the sex He Himself created?”
Do you see the subtlety of his question?
On the other hand, listen how the word of God allows a man to enjoy wonderful sexual union with his wife:
“May your fountain be blessed,
and may you rejoice in the wife of your youth.
A loving doe, a graceful deer—
may her breasts satisfy you always,
may you ever be intoxicated with her love.” (Proverbs 5:18-19)
My dearest, this is the most radical way of putting marital sexual union in words. God is blessing the man’s “fountain,” He is blessing the man’s sexual union with his wife to the point of the man being “poisoned” by his wife’s love.
Once a man is poisoned by the love of his wife, he finds strength to make a covenant with his eyes not to lust after another woman (Job 31:1, Matthew 5:27-28). And when his eyes stop wandering around, his whole body will be full of light:
“The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light.” (Matthew 6:22)
Oh, no, the enemy doesn’t want us to KNOW about “the trees” we are allowed to eat from because our ignorance of the truth of God is his investment. When we continue to be ignorant of the truth of God, we continue to be victims of our enemy’s unchanging question, “Does God really say, – – -?”///
